The Green Party campaigned for a change of Government, it would be extremely dishonest if Shaw jumped in bed with National. Their supporters would see it as a betrayal and it wouldn't surprise me if there were an internal revolt should he try.

Internal revolt of it's 3 members? lol.

3 members have 7 seats that was cleaver of them

Sorry, my mistake. 7 members.

Hahaha I had to laugh at these two words. Since when Greens stood for honesty?

And don't for a second think NZ First stands for honesty either. Nor any other politicians.

NZ First stands for Winston and Winston alone.

Greens havnt even said that what Turia did was wrong yet...assume they are as dishonest as she is.

Does a change in Government necessarily mean a change in the party that is governing?

The past few national govts have been far more centre (or even ever so slightly left of) than any in history. If the greens could pull them further to the left with a few social items plus get their green policies across, how would that have been dishonest?

The whole "mood for change" is a croc. Regardless of which party is in, there is only so much they can do, they can only divide up the pie into so many pieces and there will always be winners and losers.

By putting their big boy pants on and realising that sometimes you have to compromise to get traction in the direction that you want, its a win/win scenario.

And wouldn't a Greens / National government meet the criteria for a change in Government from a National/Act/Maori govt?

There are plenty of honest and honourable people in the Greens party. Just as there are blatant, proven liars at the top of National. This is just a smear tactic.

I've seen that in politics, nothing can be ruled out.

What the average voter can and can't see happening has no bearing on the inner desires of one's heart.

If Greens want to be in govt, if National wants to be in govt, you think they are not man (or woman) enough to work past their differences? Have you ever wanted something really badly in life? If you want it enough, you will make it happen. IF.

The thing with the Green party is being in government isn't the goal. Protection for the environment and the lower socioeconomic members of society is the goal. They can still achieve some success by staying in opposition and putting private members bills in to the ballot. Sitting on select committees and speaking in the debating chamber. A sitting MP in the opposition will get more time to talk to the media about issues than an aspiring politician outside the house. They have been able to drive attention to problems the National government wanted to ignore. Doing so shifted their policies in response. And as someone pointed out that based on the current numbers and voting patterns Hone Harawira's feed the kids bill would pass with the current parliamentary makeup. So there is a lot they would be able to do in opposition in the current term.

If being in govt isn't the goal, then the stage is set up 100% for Winston's soap opera. If being in govt isn't the goal, then good for the Greens.

I'm not sure what "deal" you're talking about. As far as Winston is wanting people to believe, he's hasn't been talking to anyone and isn't talking for at least a week yet. (Not sure why he'd want to do that)

Dangling a carrot that can be gotten for the same price from the dairy next door is not considered part of a decided deal.

Winston is being classic Winston, playing the game on his terms, being front and centre in the media portraying himself as the voice of reason, firing shots at each party (well, at least at National about the leak) to put them on the back foot.

Hes old and all but obselete, but he knows the game better than most of them combined.

Paula Bennett has said she will be happy to lose her Deputy status should that be required, aka Bill said so, and that Winston will read this. So, thats 100% on the table as as far as I am concerned, set in stone if he goes National.

And he is not stupid. All 3 main parties (N,L,NZF) want to maximise what they can. He just happens to hold more chips than the others.

This has been the exact same thing since 1996. Not new.
