It's hardly worth mentioning the very active Republican who formed "Moms for Liberty" is rich, and I'd bet a month's salary she never asked for a free toy but was turned down because she's white.

Moreover she has her kids in private school, though exclusively focuses her outrage on public schools. I guess "for thou, not for thee"

I love the presenter's saying "Every conservative accusation is a confession."

The Guardian: Tax complaint filed against rightwing parents’ rights group Moms for Liberty

A Michigan attorney has confirmed she filed an Internal Revenue Service (IRS) complaint against Moms for Liberty, the parental rights group with positions against racially inclusive and LGBTQ+ education in schools. The complaint alleges that the rightwing organization is in violation of its 501(c)4 non-profit status.

Experts in tax law say an IRS investigation into the Moms for Liberty, named an extremist group by Southern Poverty Law Center, would take at least two years. If their non-profit status is revoked, it would most likely cause the group to re-characterize as a private organization, further decreasing transparency about how money is flowing into it.

The complaint questions whether Moms for Liberty is a political educational organization and notes public posts endorsing Republican candidates, the group’s campaigning for Republican candidates, and links to partisan training materials.

The Independent: Marjorie Taylor Greene forced to admit she called for Pelosi to get death penalty

Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene was left scrambling to avoid committing perjury on Friday after an attorney representing voters seeking to disqualify her from this year’s election ballot confronted her with video of past statements in which she accused House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of “treason” and suggested the California Democrat should be executed.

Speaking at an administrative hearing before a Georgia judge, attorney Ron Fein promised “direct evidence” that will show Ms Greene used “hashtags and memes and ways of communicating among internet subcultures” to express support for the worst attack on the Capitol since 1814, and said Ms Greene herself will be “the most powerful witness in establishing that she crossed the line into engagement of insurrection”.

“You'll hear her words of course on the stand, what she says and what she doesn't say. You'll also hear what she said in the past ... some of that will be in somewhat coded or veiled language, but you'll also hear in some cases, the mask falls and she shows us exactly what she intended,” he said.

And when it came time to question her, he delivered on that promise.

After Ms Greene was sworn in as a witness, attorney Andrew Celli asked her if she had ever called Ms Pelosi a “traitor to our country”.

The Georgia Republican replied immediately: “No, I haven’t said that”.

After a moment, the attorney asked for an exhibit to be called up for viewing, at which point Ms Greene interjected: "Oh no, wait, hold on now! I believe that by not securing the border that violates her oath of office”.

The video, which was taken during a 2019 political rally in Washington, showed her doing exactly what she initially denied.

In it, Ms Greene addresses a crowd regarding Ms Pelosi, who she said was “guilty of treason”.

“She took an oath to protect American citizens and uphold our laws. And she gives aid and comfort to our enemies who illegally invade our land. That's what treason is,” she said.

“And by our law, representatives and senators can be kicked out and no longer serve in our government — and it's a crime punishable by death”.

The holidays have ushered in a rash of swatting incidents targeting politicians across the country, with phony calls for help leading heavily armed law enforcement personnel to show up at the homes of unsuspecting members of Congress and other elected officials.

The most high-profile episode came on Christmas Day, when Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene announced on X, formerly Twitter, “I was just swatted. This is like the 8th time. On Christmas with my family here.”

Other similar episodes have followed this week in locations as varied as New York, Georgia, Nebraska, and Ohio.

The fake electors scheme features prominently in special counsel Jack Smith’s criminal indictment against the former president, and some of the officials who were involved have spoken to Smith’s investigators.

Trump appointed controversial postmaster general Louis DeJoy, who made his mark on the embattled postal service by rolling out new plans to slow down delivery and close postal stations around the country.

 

DeJoy, a Republican logistics executive, caused a national furor over his attempts to slow down mail delivery before the 2020 presidential election, in which millions of Americans voted by mail.
