well-spoken, attractive young female leader

Attractive - really?

Totally agree with well spoken - expect when it come to answering questions.  If Ardern ever says "of course" you know a whole lot of evasion and bovine manure is inbound.

Lol. Are you seriously suggesting he took a bribe to go with Labour?

Besides the SFO don't determine guilt of anything, the courts do.

No, I'm saying that there's a bit of a fine art to figuring out where Winston's agenda begins and his donor's agendas end. It's perhaps naive to think that any MP is doing something 'for the good of the country'.

I find the firm notion he hasn't done anything 'underhanded' to be a bit of a hard sell tbh. Only one party in parliament under active investigation by the SFO, as Winston himself used to quip not too long ago.

I don't live in Auckland and where I am life is still pretty normal. Shops are open, few masks to be seen, life goes on. I know I would rather be here than anywhere else I can think of.

Yep, life's pretty normal, except for say.. The 250 people a day losing jobs, and the $440 million it's costing per week for lockdown..

No big deal!

Let me rephrase that, then. If I were living in Auckland I know I would rather be there than anywhere else (outside New Zealand) I can think of.

Apart from that, Chris Hipkins says that the gaps at the border (which he takes responsibility for) were not the source of the current outbreak in Auckland, so even if that had been air-tight, it still would have occurred. That is regrettable but we are in the midst of a pandemic, after all, and New Zealand is still doing pretty well compared to others.

Gold Coast sounds pretty good right now. 1 new case in the last 24 hours, just shy of 1,100 overall, 6 deaths for the whole of Queensland.

If you're going to make that sort of assertion be fair about it. National is bought and paid for by business interests and the CCP. Labour is beholden to the unions. All political parties have to keep their stakeholders happy.

Get your facts straight about the SFO. The SFO are currently investigating Labour and prosecuting a former National MP for his behaviour when he was an MP. Most parties behaviour around electoral donations is pretty poor.

Conducting a coalition negotiation isn't underhanded. If you don't like the outcome vote for someone else.

Hipkins doesn't know where the current outbreak came from so his assertion is worthless. There are no credible experts that suggest that the current outbreak came.from anywhere but the border.

It's easier with Collins. She only lies when her lips are moving.

In the context of anything here or in the wider community the Prime Ministers looks are irrelevant except maybe to her partner.

Hipkins doesn't know where the current outbreak came from so his assertion is worthless. There are no credible experts that suggest that the current outbreak came.from anywhere but the border.

What he is really saying is that the genotyping of the current cluster doesn't correlate to the genotype of cases detected at the border which have been genotyped.  The trouble with that is not all cases get genotyped.  I did read somewhere last week that the cluster is most similar to virus samples genotyped in the UK. I can no longer find that so take with a grain of salt

Looking at the linkage diagram on stuff this morning (https://www.stuff.co.nz/national/300086610/live-five-new-coronavirus-cases-jacinda-ardern-visits-esr-testing-lab) there were 4 households and a workplace still outside of the cluster and not linked to each other by contact tracing.  About 24 people in all.  Quite a nice diagram you'll have to scroll through the COVID live stream to find it.

It's also been concluded today that maintenance worker at one MIQ hotel acquired an infection from a detainee there, via a lift button.  So that is an official acknowledgement of infection spreading from MIQ to the community.

Americold has been ruled out by Bloomfield yesterday.

Govt has no idea where this cluster came from.

Or they have a good idea where it is from but do not wish to say so until confirmation is established. This would be a sensible route to take.

I would have to go back and check (can't do that right now) but I'm sure that is what he said. Of course the virus would ultimately have come over the border. He was just saying it didn't come through any of the gaps now being plugged. I think he is able to say this even without knowing where the outbreak started because of the genetic characteristics of the virus, but I don't know for certain.
