Accidentally found myself watching real Time with Bill Mayer on Soholast night, it had John Brennan as a guest, amongst others. While clearly anti Trump, it was funny but also enlightening. Probably just a few days old if anyone wants to look on YouTube for it. One of the anti Trump panelists is a devout Republican

When the old fella karks, you'd need to be an optimist to expect a softening of the hard-right populist agenda.  The only hope of him delivering that would be if he's not as competent and cunning as his father.  

 

To be fair, most media empires are owned by corporates, Bezos owns the Washington Post etc.  Makes the suggestion that the media has an overall "left" bias laughably naive. Over the past couple of decades, the media hasn't just worked against democracy by convincing (mainly the poor) to vote directly against their own interests, but in getting (mainly the poor) to accept the concept of "born to rule" dynasties.

Yes. In these days of everything that is not nailed down being regulated, its quite ironic that the media, the source of information to the masses, is politically managed. The big and silent brain/perception altering machine.

Murdoch found a backdoor,  exploited a common fault in the logic processor, and created a massive human botnet.

My fellow Americans, whom I have gratefully served for sixty years, and especially my fellow Arizonans,

 

Thank you for the privilege of serving you and for the rewarding life that service in uniform and in public office has allowed me to lead. I have tried to serve our country honorably. I have made mistakes, but I hope my love for America will be weighed favorably against them.

 

I have often observed that I am the luckiest person on earth. I feel that way even now as I prepare for the end of my life. I have loved my life, all of it. I have had experiences, adventures and friendships enough for ten satisfying lives, and I am so thankful. Like most people, I have regrets. But I would not trade a day of my life, in good or bad times, for the best day of anyone else's.

 

I owe that satisfaction to the love of my family. No man ever had a more loving wife or children he was prouder of than I am of mine. And I owe it to America. President Donald Trump has made more veiled threats toward Google and other web platforms, after tweeting this morning that Google had “rigged” its search results to suppress positive news about him.

 

Trump told reporters during an Oval Office press meeting that Google, Facebook, and Twitter were “treading on very, very troubled territory,” and that they had “better be careful, because you can’t do that to people.”

The negotiations with NK are going well. Pompeo has cancelled meetings indefinitely as not enough progress made, aka US isn't getting its own way. Some military exercises are in place, so NK says its planning an invasion. I thought the US might just suspend activity in the region for a while. Another success story for his memoirs. Maybe how to make a good deal doesn't work if you can't force the other party into the deal, works for his business but not in the real world

May I ask, what happens if the mid terms are a resounding success for the Democrats? That's means they control both houses? If so, does that mean GOP cannot pass any bills? Could they then state if GOP finds a suitable POTUS they will cooperate, but until then, they will stop everything to stop the US being damaged further?  I don't understand a lot about the US Govt makeup, so just asking

As I understand it, since only half the Senate seats are up for grabs then even in the extremely unlikely event they were to win all of them they still would not have control of the Senate (because many of those seats are already held by a Democrat) so at least a handful of Republicans would need to put themselves in mortal career danger to end Trump.
