Releasing a rabid dog into your own backyard? I don't think you realise how much that would affect any political individual/party. This isn't even at a national scale either, internationally you would get utterly panned.

If you genuinely believe such a thing could happen there you also have to accept the equally absurd notion that some peanut in power will do absolutely the same thing here. It's also not hard to see someone with an axe to grind in NZ thinking 'nah we don't want him, your problem' and dumping over the ditch as a threat.

Yes, and that is a decision for NZ no-one else. The individual is not an NZ citizen and there is no doubt - he's going back to Australia in a casket when the sentence is complete.

Dump what remains of the thing in a random place in the ocean.  Allowing his entire or cremated remains to be buried on land allows the possibility of anything acknowledging he ever existed becoming a memorial - even if there's nothing visible - just co-ordinates on a map.

Mosque terrorist designated a 'terrorist entity' by Jacinda Ardern

Yup fair enough, it also mentions that He is now the 20th designated terrorist entity in New Zealand.

I did not realise that we had 19 others so it prompted me to have a look. You can see the list here.

Getting "page not found" errors on links to the lists on that page  - I guess they're updating them.

Where did you see those "19 others"?

There are no "we had 19 others". Here's a quote from Stuff (where I imagine you got this):

"The convicted mass murderer responsible for the March 15 terror attack has become the first person in New Zealand history to be designated a "terrorist entity". This afternoon, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern announced that ********* had become the 20th person to be put on this list.'"

Doesn't that imply 19 other entities were on that list?

He wrote "I did not realise that we had 19 others so it prompted me to have a look." and that gave me the impression "we" as in "New Zealand".

The list is not a New Zealand list. It's a UN list, so it's not "we" really. That's what sounded confusing to me.

Ah, OK yup, that makes sense to me now too :)

If it's a UN list, I am actually pretty surprised it's only 20.

Honestly, with the thinly veiled white supremacist like Pauline Hanson in a position of Political power in Australia despite her open and blatant racism is evidence there's enough people in Australia who support extremely racist views currently to make scared enough to keep him in New Zealand.

A position of political power? I don't think so. Hardly enough to overcome the entire rest of the Government and legal system.

Can we bill australia for holding this piece of crap? It all seems very one sided when they deport people who have lived there for years, if we're not deporting this winner I reckon they should have to pay for his imprisonment. Yeah, tit for tat but idc

I'm quite confident that quid pro quo for prison costs would be a net loss for NZ. There are a lot of New Zealanders in Australia, far fewer Australians in NZ. The normal distribution of criminals among those people would suggest NZ would have to pay.

Hitler didn't even have a majority in the Reichstag when he became Chancellor of Germany.
