MikeB4: I feel some here have no idea how Government works and what is being displayed here is misogyny. Oddly some showing misogyny have ironically accused Mr Trump of that very trait.

No not misogyny. I suspect that had Andrew Little remained leader and somehow managed to pull together a coalition the criticism would be far stronger.

There are some here and in the country who would criticise anything Labour does and try to put the worst possible spin on it because they just have a visceral dislike of Labour, sort of how I feel about National.

MikeB4: Misogyny is not restricted to "hatred"

It also includes prejudice and dislike (of women)

But for a comment to be misogynistic, it would have to be taking aim at the fact that Jacinda is a woman, not merely pointing out that she’s doing a lacklustre job (and also happens to be a woman)

There has actually been a bit of that here, not so much overt but definitely implied.

I've seen nothing that would qualify as mysogyny (which assuredly has a far higher bar than sexism whether restricted to hatred or not - and the word descends from the greek for hatred and women) any more than previous negative comments about Bill English or John Key would qualify as misandrist.

That's kind of an interesting statement. I don't dislike Labour as a party. If their policies were in the best interest of NZ, I'd have voted for them.

It's a more than a little hypocritical to suggest others don't rag on Labour "just because" when you have just admitted you rag on National just "because".

The problem is Labours policies, which were clearly not costed despite their assurances they were. I believe they never intended to do any of this stuff, it was just to hide the same old Labour nonsense such as an unfair balance in the workplace. Still no childrens program proper costing or plan has been announced. Don't forget that JA said this would be her top priority and the reason she is in politics!

I feel that you would let the country burn to the ground under Labour refusing to admit any fault on their part, just because it's Labour.

I have tried to be balanced, I have pointed out the areas in their policy I think are worth doing, even though most of those have now been replaced with much weaker versions of them, you have not admitted one fault in all the time that Labour has been in office, everything is explained away as "ok" because "they are in office and that's all that matters".

Different for the sake of different, isn't better. Better is better. I have not seen evidence yet to suggest that Labour is better. The policies they have passed have been poorly thought out (providing free education without any limits of common sense). I would bet that the result of this policy will be a huge tax payer burden and a small number of better-educated people, and a large number of drop outs and failed tertiary education attempts.

One thing Labour (and a lot of people) don't understand is that humans don't value what they don't have to sacrifice or work for. Handing out free educations will mean that most people will not value it as much.

For the record, I do not hate women, I love women. I grew up in a house with 4 women and live in a house with 2 now. I will admit I am probably a *little* sexist (this is someone elses label).

I have no hatred or really feelings of any nature toward JA herself. I have a serious issue with her lack of experience. I don't like how she yaps on about transparency but isn't on things that might reflect badly upon herself or Labour in general. I don't like how she passive-aggressively supports her policy by suggesting that others who don't support them aren't decent human beings.

When she says things like "Now we are a team of 3" it makes me cringe to the depths of my soul. It's like she has read the manual on how to talk "trendy". She doesn't seem entirely real or authentic to me. When she responds to questions, sometimes I get the feeling like she is trying to recall which phrase to quote from a self help book or something.

These things are nothing to do with what party she represents.

It seems that a few people here who don't agree with others comments and tend to be left of the political spectrum in their views, stop commentating on politics and lower themselves to negative comments at a personal level against posters. Sad, but expected.

I definitely have a dislike for Labour but mine stems directly from their policies rather than a mere 'visceral' dislike. And generally all their policies stem from or are skewed toward socialism which is why I don't like them.

On the other hand, I don't believe National offer a perfect alternative, far from it. But if given a choice between the two, the ideology or principle behind National's generally aligns better with my views.

I have an extreme dislike for trade unions, and while Labour aligns themselves alongside the unions, irrespective of any policies which may be brilliant, I cannot offer labour any support because indirectly it is showing support for the unions. Thus they find themselves between a rock and a hard place, because I'm probably not the only person with those views.

Agree on pretty much everything here. Their union and unfair views on how an employment relationship should be balanced is a major problem for me. I consider myself a fair and reasonable employer, I've never had a claim against me, and I am on good terms with all but 1 of my ex staff some who worked for me for over 10 years, however, the hoops required to deal with staff issues are unreasonably stacked against employers. There are some ratbag employers, and some ratbag employees but Labour has only shown regard for dealing with 1 of those two situations.

I would welcome more robust justification of labour's policies on this forum. It is easy respond at a personal level, more challenging to respond relative to the actual value labour offers to NZ. TDgeek offered some reasonable arguments at times...

I believe that if the partners John Key or Bill English had a child while they were in office and say John Key took six parental leave this conversation would not be happening.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
