It's worth remembering the Korean peoples did not create this mess, one has to look to Japan and more so the US and Russia for their total mess up post WW2.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

SK already take gunfire at the DMZ

They do. They also take artillery hits - including to civilians - and had a cruiser sunk by a North Korean submarine a few years back with many casualties. Notice how they didn't start a war over it, though, which is probably what Donald Trump would do.

It's not the talking that is the issue it's who is doing the talking. The US should back out and let a neutral state do the talking.

The US supports two states in the region so its involved. It has also been threatened with a direct attack. SK already take gunfire at the DMZ and Japan is regularly in the firing line. To compare Trumps tweets to KJU is bizarre I'm sorry.

If US backs out I'm ok with that, as does China, and I assume the UN who NK also dont want to know. End of the day this isnt a NK issue NK are fine its all the US, so lets leave the status quo as it is and the starving NK population, and accept a fully nuclear NK so they can get those further improved and stocklpiled

I am not sure I compared Trumps tweets to Kim Jong Un

It is time for the West and Russia to stop deciding what is best for Asia, let Asia decide what is best for them.

And the US is there, no war. If it wasnt, NK would want to move in on SK, China would say "No, dont do that (but ok if you do)

So you're equating a sovereign nation inviting its ally to participate in an exercise over its own territory, with an unwarned firing of missiles over another country's airspace.

I have to say you're showing a poor knowledge of international law.

What I am saying taking risky action and frankly behaving like they are in a school yard something very stupid and reckless. The stakes are VERY high and any action could spark a conflict. It is time to be sensible. I was not getting involved in International Law at all but just because you can do something does not mean you should do it.

I think he is commenting on the stupidity of the action, not the legality.

Well, as a military person I wouldn't call it a stupid act.  A show of strength and resolve is essential for deterrence.  KJU isn't going to show restraint because he's a nice guy, or sane, or generous - the thing holding him back from crossing the border or doing something really stupid is because he knows it will end extremely badly for him and his country.

Equating SK and USA actions with NK's is close to a parallel with Godwin's.

It makes plenty of sense. Just a bit of a show of force!

No. Its a regular scheduled training exercise. Im sure I read that it was already planned like all the others, which makes me cynically feel that NK sent its missile across Japan ahead off the known exercises, so that they can claim as they always do that the US is preparing an attack. he has also told his soldiers to raid fields to eat as an attack is imminent. Anyone who is not in top shape, will have consequences.

I hear that, but if we let him shoot missiles everywhere and there is no token response, he will just walk all over us and get more daring. Oh wait, he already walks over all of us, so its fine by me to respond in a far smaller way, to at least reduce his ability to be daring. And as he knows, these exercises are not for his benefit they were already planned as they are every year. It even has a name they use every year
