I rewatched some of Biden's 2020 debate with Trump. Biden did well. For that reason I really do think the Biden age thing is overdone.

Granted, it's four years later. Sure, there's been a couple of screw-ups with dates. Even so, that's not much that could not be explained by tiredness. Biden looks and sounds like a picture of sanity and forbearance compared to the other guy.

One serious problem for Biden is there's no obvious candidate on the horizon to hand over to. To some extent, that's exactly the thing that saw him pick up from Obama.

The polls don't agree with you.

Nine out of ten Americans think he's too old. Six out of ten think Trumps too old.

I think ABC has one of the polls you refer to here:

NBC: Overwhelming majority of Americans think Biden is too old for another term. A majority also think Trump is too old for a second term.

The reality is those are the two candidates and people are going to vote for them. Age is something to talk about I'm not sure it will make a difference in how people vote on the day.

The actual age is immaterial if you project the right public image. I would agree with you if Biden didn't look and act so old. His public appearances lack any sort of energy while Trump's energy levels seem undiminished.

While Trump still exhibits any sort of dynamism he will constantly target Biden's frailty. And 6 months is a long time when you are 80.

IMO A lot of people vote on how they feel about a candidate rather than achievements or policies. And Biden doesn't inspire people any longer.

I wish it wasn't the case.

Well this is interesting. In an interview, Putin has said he prefers Biden over Trump as US president, with the implication that he is easier to deal with because he behaves like an adult. He also added that he didn't think much of the interview with Tucker Carlson, because he asked patsy questions instead of thoughtful ones. +1 to Putin. Who would have thought?

Letter to the editor in today's The Post.  Echoes my sentiments, and I suspect those of many others, quite elegantly.

Sometimes I use big words I don't always fully understand in an effort to make myself sound more photosynthesis.

The writer surely should be thinking, "The world's oldest continuous democracy".

I'd say "world's oldest democracy" ignores all about the existence of Greek city-nations.

I'd expect the author to be an expat American who thinks the USA is 2,024 years old because that's what Christmas celebrates, right?

He is not going to undo anything. Did you read the article?

By saying he prefers Biden Trump can always say "I was not a Putin puppet".

Putin's comment on Biden, is because like his media he sees Trump supporters as stupid.
Really stupid.
Its clearly a lie, wrapped in a subtle truth that Biden is more respected than his dumb puppet Trump.

Like below.

While it might be seen as insult to their best asset Trump.
The message to Russians, goes well, that America is stupid and easily manipulated.
So Putin and Russia will be 'winners' as they have have control of who controls these stupid people.

Its why Tucker Carlson's blatant sycophancy may disappoint.
Its more satisfying if in the fight you fixed, that the opponent at least puts up a fight before they go down.

In the video, Maxim Yusin, a Russian journalist and political commentator, says: "The majority of people who vote for Trump are not very smart primitive people with whom you need to talk like this, with cliches and dumb slogans."

The remark triggers laughter from other members of the panel, one of whom goes on to describe Trump supporters as "rednecks" and compares them to villagers who cry out for money.
""
Referring to Trump's rhetoric at campaign rallies, a third commentator adds: "He shuffles around the same 10 words, such a b******, that's all... This man is planning to be president again." This sparks laughter from other panel members, to which he jokingly responds: "Enough, stop laughing! Idiotic idiots!"

Nikki Haley's book details her family's experience of racism in USA

USAToday: “When it came time for my parents to find a home, no one would rent to them,” their American-born daughter, Nikki Haley, recalled in her 2012 memoir. “Word quickly got around that my father worked at the ‘Black school,’ and besides that, he and my mom were obviously foreigners themselves.”

and more.
