The Washington Post - Trump’s troop deployment strung ‘lethal’ razor wire on the border. This city has had enough.

February 7 at 7:00 AM (extracts)

Arturo Garino said one of his constituents told him about the razor wire on Saturday night.

Garino knew the military had installed a line of wire across the top of the fence that divides Nogales, a border town of about 20,000 in Arizona, from its sister city in Mexico, after troops were deployed to the border by President Trump before the midterm election. ...

Row after row of razor wire had been strung on the fence so that it covered nearly the entire surface in parts.

... six separate coils of wire cover portions of the fence, lending it the appearance of a war zone or a high-security prison.

Garino said he was confused. Trump’s push was for a wall, which the town already has. So what was the point of the wire?

“This is overkill,” Garino said in a phone interview. "It’s way over the top.” ...

How about the US government buys 12 of these, and let Trump put his name on it, and buzz coyotes on the border.

He could keep one at the White House, and one at Mar-A-Lago.

I bet he'd forget about the wall.

It could probably do a simulated wave, which would be better than those mean old Service Service agents he says won't wave at him.

It could probably used inside the White House to shoot nerf darts at Obama's portrait.

Melania could get an olive drab one with the words "I don't really care. Do You?" banner attached.

I was having a nap this afternoon with MSNBC playing in the background. Because of that I only half-heard what was being said but the bits I picked up sound stunning. Someone might want to look further into it.

Apparently the National Enquirer has tried to go after Jeff Bezos. Bezos is the owner of the Washington Post, particularly hated by Trump. The National Enquirer is a gutter publication that supports Trump and has aided in suppressing scandal stories about his sexual escapades in spite of this kind of thing being one of its mainstays. The guy who runs the Enquirer, actually named Pecker, is a chum of Trump’s and was involved in trying to keep Stormy Daniels quiet.

Bezos had an affair, which seems to have put his marriage of many years on the rocks. The National Enquirer either broke this story, or at least was involved in publicizing it. The Washington Post has been conducting an investigation of the National Enquirer. A lawyer from the company in New York that owns the National Enquirer sent an email to a lawyer in Los Angeles who I think represents a security firm working for Bezos that in effect threatened to reveal some very intimate photos and emails of Bezos that are in the possession of the National Enquirer and have not yet been made public, unless Bezos agreed to publish a statement that the National Enquirer is not pursuing a political agenda. There is more to this, and it is much worse than I am making it sound, but I didn’t get the whole story.

Bezos was enraged by this blatant attempt at blackmail, which apparently may also involve some federal crimes because of the Interstate nature of the communications, and he has gone to the authorities. He has also decided to publish the compromising material that the blackmailers threatened to use against him. This alone speaks very highly of his character, but the story goes much further than this. There are implications of pervasive corruption in high places and at the least, this could well bring down the National Enquirer and everyone around it. This is not a small thing.

So far it doesn’t seem to involve Trump directly, but it is still unfolding and it is likely to have huge repercussions. Again, I only heard snatches of this while asleep so I don’t have the full story and some of my details may be wrong, but MSNBC seems to think it is a very big deal. I turned off the report to focus on writing this but the news is still breaking. It may be major stuff.

I forgot to mention that the National Enquirer seems to have obtained the confidential material on Bezos from a government department or agency that may have illegally obtained it and passed it on, and this is a big part of what could become the scandal of the century. At least this is my understanding from what I heard. There may be a suggestion that someone in government (guess who?) misused government power to blackmail a major critic. Wouldn’t that be fun if it turned out to be true? This is getting more like Nixon all the time. And don’t forget it was the Washington Post who brought that sleazebag down.

Edit: There is now a report about this in the WP.

As much as I despise Trump and his filthy corrupt pack of facilitators, I hope the solution doesn't need to involve a spat between billionaires centred on infidelity.

(yes - I know there's more to it than that).

There's no way this blackmail attempt by Pecker was not directed by someone higher up... Bezos, being the richest men in the world, not having any fucks to give, decided to stand up - because if he doesn't do it who would?

Civil rights legislation. Some people believe it restricts their ability to be like totally not racist:

Wow. Jeff is one ballsy guy 😉

And, he easily Trumps the Donald for Pecker size:

January 2019, net worth in USD.

Donald Trump: 3.1 billion

Jeff Bezos: 137 billion

Apparently AMI (National Enquirer parent company) has an agreement with Muller to not do anything illegal since it's been helping the investigations, or risk prosecution... If Bezos does a good job and prove blackmail... Oh, that'd be epic ownage.

I see Trump has been reasonable with the discussions leading up to the Feb 15 deadline. Just a new tactic. Being reasonable is a new tactic, thats sad in itself. But it wont make any difference, the only deal is a bit more money for non wall security, which I think is already on the table.
