If National  left the nation in good shape and there has been no critical changes in conditions since the election then there is no need for rushed changes. I prefer the current leadership takes full stock and makes well considered decisions. If that means their initial schedule is changed then so be it.

This is the schedule they set, targets they set, policies they set, which they said were properly thought out and properly costed, both lies.

They aren't just changing the schedule, they are saying they won't do some of these things (Tree planting near 1B for example) under any time frame.

Unfortunately, although your reply was indeed clear, simple, and straightforward, there is some difficulty in justifiably assigning to it the fourth of the epithets you applied to the statement, inasmuch as the precise correlation between the information you communicated and the facts, insofar as they can be determined and demonstrated, is such as to cause epistemological problems, of sufficient magnitude as to lay upon the logical and semantic resources of the English language a heavier burden than they can reasonably be expected to bear.

freitasm: ROFL. Seriously folks?

Stop with the prejudice. There is no scientific evidence that a woman cannot do a job well because of motherhood.

Let her shine and do her part to help New Zealand.

You folks strike me as some people that will support Trump over anything just because he is a man.

Give it a break. Instead of bickering accept she got the job and help her do it instead of trying to undermine it. If it goes to sh!t it is your life too.

Respectfully;

I am not a Trump supporter, but I could see the benefits of *some* of his policies (if they were implemented as they were promised, such as draining the swamp etc). The Trump thread was *hysterical* from 10 pages in. I advocated giving him some time to settle in and try and implement some of the policies, but not one bit of logic was applied and I was shouted out of that thread. As it turns out, some of the predictions on how dire he would be, have sadly eventuated. He is a disaster. A different President with the same agenda could have been something better/good for America (I do not support all his policies for the record).

The difference is, I don't support many Labour *policies* in their announced state, regardless of who fronts them. "Helping" her (Which I am not sure how I would anyways), would be helping her make NZ worse in my view.

Lastly, I want to be clear I would not support Trump soley because of gender (or race, or religion or pretty much anything else as a single factor). I'd support him if I felt he was doing a good job implementing policies he campaigned on.

If JA was implementing policies I supported, within budgets as was promised, was being transparent (actually), then she would have my support. So far, I have seen no evidence it's going to happen.

The modern conservative is engaged in one of man's oldest exercises in moral philosophy; that is, the search for a superior moral justification for selfishness.

I may not have seen it here (but I think I did) , but I'll bet you dollars to donuts that I have seen the exact wording in both the replies above this one somewhere recently.

Is it plagiarism or repetition?!

Repetition (yours in this 'debate') justifies repetition....

How many times are you going to post your dislike of the current government and/or prime minister without saying anything new? (we get it already)

As someone previously said this subject has degenerated to be just like the Trump thread, with the same people, repeating over and over again their dislikes and opinions of the current government.

There's a maxim that goes something like this:

The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

JA promised a different government. Transparency. Delivering on promises. Making things happen.... The nats have been slammed for their broken promises, their failures.

Is anyone expecting great things from a labour government that's doing the same thing? If you answer yes to that question, then one would be forced to question your sanity.

I presume that this should be clarified, in that it's not the "same" people expressing dislike for Ardern as it is for Trump  The reasons are also quite different and AFAICT in the case of Ardern, regardless of validity of criticism of her/labour's policies, personal attacks on her are unjustified.  She appears to be a good person.  OTOH Trump is a horrible person - a hideous, lying, amoral, hypocritical, racist, misogynist piece of scum - and those accusations stand scrutiny / fact-checking.

There is a thread for discussing trump. This one is for Jacinda. Please keep on track.

Most of those words can describe almost any politician at some point in their career, as they are somewhat subjective to opinion and personal views.

I believe that I made three references to JA in the paragraph I typed, my comments were based on a comparison made by someone else between threads, I pointed out that the comparisons are unjustified and why.

It was not "off topic" - and I gave a reason why the comments about Trump are NOT subjective and subject to personal views, as they stand scrutiny by fact checking.  This thread seems to be full of dog-whistles and sour grapes.

Wasn't trying to dig at you, there was just several references to Trump, and the way this thread goes the topic can swing pretty quickly lol.

I don't really want to discuss Trump at all if possible, so I wanted to avoid that topic.

Hysterical. Even if mostly factually correct.

Trump is the elected leader of another nation. Our opinions of him, whatever they may be, are entirely irrelevant to whether he remains leader of that nation or not. We may as well froth at the mouth about genuinely worse leaders such as (until recently) Mugabe, who get no frothing despite being demonstrably worse.

I really have no idea why so many people waste so much energy on Trump. Let us use our energy in relation to the people we elect to run our own small patch of the world. That seems more useful to me.

We could send two Frigates, three C130s with circa 150 troops and the SAS to oust him tongue-out
