Trump has a rant on twitter about twitter:

So what triggered him?

Easy:

Twitter shuts down 5,000 pro-Trump bots

Twitter has suspended over 5,000 accounts tied to a network amplifying a message denouncing the report by Special Counsel Robert Mueller as a "RussiaGate hoax...

One of the tweets distributed by the bot network read, "The people screaming about Trump working for Russia are the same people demanding social media censor 'misinformation', Stop listening to these people."

This is not the first time a campaign tied to Saudi interests resulted in a takedown of Twitter accounts.

One thing I'm highly confident of, is that the Trumpists are going to kick back very hard about NZ/French plans to investigate methods to reign in misinformation on Social Media.  It was after all a fundamental method explaining how Trump got elected, and how much of his behaviour since - which would have in the past received universal condemnation - has been legitimised.
I don't know what an answer to this problem could be, short of banning twitter etc.  Policing *after the fact* as Twitter are doing, doesn't solve the problem. The bots will return, as they always do.

The Washington Post - Trump says he is opposed to White House aides testifying to Congress, deepening power struggle with Hill

April 23 2019

In an interview with The Washington Post, Trump said that complying with congressional requests was unnecessary after the White House cooperated with special counsel Robert S. Mueller III’s probe of Russian interference and the president’s own conduct in office.

“There is no reason to go any further, and especially in Congress where it’s very partisan - obviously very partisan,” Trump said.

On Tuesday, two White House officials said the administration plans to fight a subpoena issued by the House Judiciary Committee for former White House counsel Donald McGahn by asserting executive privilege over his testimony.

Separately, the administration directed a former White House official not to comply with a subpoena from the House Oversight Committee, prompting the panel to move to hold him in contempt of Congress.

And the Treasury Department defied a second demand from House Democrats to turn over six years of President Trump’s tax returns.

Taken together, the moves mark a dramatic escalation of tensions between the president and congressional Democrats - deepening a fight that may ultimately be resolved only by a protracted court battle. ...

It's extremely rare for a president to invoke "executive privilege." I had to look it up. It started under Nixon, of course.

RealClear Politics - Joe Scarborough: Barr Will Never Get His Reputation Back

April 18, 2019

"It seems bizarre at this point that a president should be able to select their own attorney general," Scarborough said.

"... who can decide how the investigations are run against them, who can decide which political enemies gets prosecuted, who can decide which political allies don't get prosecuted, can decide what corporations don't get prosecuted."

"... Donald Trump has shown us actually a flaw, a significant flaw in our constitutional system of checks and balances. This is not the way America is supposed to run." ...

The Washington Post - Trump’s defiance puts pressure on Congress’s ability to check the president

April 24

President Trump’s defiance of congressional attempts to investigate his administration has put new pressure on the legislative branch’s ability to serve as a constitutional check on a president who sees few limits on his executive power.

Since taking office, Trump has consistently treated Congress as more of a subordinate than an equal - often aided by the tacit approval of congressional Republicans who have shown little interest in confronting the president.

But tensions between Trump and Capitol Hill have escalated in recent days as the White House refuses to comply with subpoenas from newly empowered House Democrats eager to conduct aggressive oversight of his administration.

Trump’s decision not to cooperate with House committees, coupled with reluctance from Republicans in control of the Senate to cross him, has left Congress struggling to assert itself as a coequal branch of government - most likely leaving it to the courts to settle a series of power struggles that could define the relationship between the executive and legislative branches for years to come. ...

... And on Wednesday, Trump suggested he would go to the Supreme Court to stop any attempt by Democrats to impeach him, despite legal scholars saying that power is clearly given to Congress in the Constitution.

“I DID NOTHING WRONG,” Trump wrote in a tweet.

“If the partisan Dems ever tried to Impeach, I would first head to the U.S. Supreme Court. Not only are there no ‘High Crimes and Misdemeanors,’ there are no Crimes by me at all.”

There's a funny video from Fox News called "Russian agent Maria Butina sentenced to 18 months."

We've also heard the judges position that Maria's was much more than just failing to register.

That she was acting as an agent of the Russian government while she was inside the United States.

The government has said this morning that Maria Butina had met with the Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak on multiple occasions.

Sergey Kislyak, he's a very important person in the influence operation in the 2016 campaign because of his outreach to members of the Trump campaign.

What the court was told today is that Maria Butina promised the Russian ambassador that she would collect the contact information of prominent conservatives, and that this information, she understood, would go back to the Russian government.

The US government has said this Maria Butina was executing a plan to establish an unofficial back channel with the Russian government and that this back channel was on significant importance as well.

So it wasn't just about registration. It was really about the issue on acting on behalf to further the interest of the Russian government
...
The judge in this case has not accepted Maria Butina was not in the United States simply to build a better relation between the US and Russian.

That her enthusiasm for gun rights was genuine. That in effect, that the government maintained, that is part of an effort to infiltrate the [US National Rifle Association] NRA was well as prominent conservatives

So perhaps even conservatives don't like Trump administrations coziness with the Russians.
