TRUMP URGES AMERICANS TO BOYCOTT CHINESE GOODS AND JUST BUY THINGS AT WALMART

WASHINGTON (The Borowitz Report)—Asking for their solidarity in his trade war with China, Donald Trump is urging Americans to boycott Chinese goods and “just buy things at Walmart.”

Trump made his request via Twitter, where he told his fellow-citizens that it was their “patriotic duty” to punish China by buying as many goods at Walmart as possible.

“If you go to a GREAT AMERICAN STORE like Walmart, you’ll find lots of cheap sportswear, shoes, and other items for you and your family to enjoy,” he tweeted. “What better way to show China that we don’t need their DUMB STUFF!”

Shortly after Trump sent those marching orders to his countrymen, the Chinese President, Xi Jinping, offered a muted response. “I’m beginning to see how he lost a billion dollars,” Xi said.

Trump crowned? No faux King way!

Sadly, that's probably exactly what he's thinking. And don't forget to buy other great American-made products like iPhones, folks.

Interesting that Trump exempted Apple products from the tariffs.

Its one thing to "Buy American" as a general slogan, its another to "Don't Buy Chinese"

The Apple thing is interesting. iPhones are already stupid prices now, add 25% be fun. That would hurt Wall St, and general sentiment.

Be good if Walmart had an increase in sales, he would be rubbing his hands, public are poorer, Chinese Govt Export guy will be happy

With the 2020 election looming, is it normal to select a candidate or candidates to compete for that nomination? Or does that not happen to a sitting President? He is the default candidate?

In the States, the incumbent is a "shoe-in", and almost always wins.

So the party he represent almost always put him forward. Even with a stinker like Trump.

Most American voters are lazy and stupid, so they just re-elect the last guy. It's also about the money. The person who raises the most, often wins. Republicans are seen as "pro-business", so they have an easier time at the pig trough.

Trump Should Have a 70 Percent Chance of Winning in 2020

We’ve analyzed more than 500 elections. Here’s what should happen next.

The recent Democratic takeover of the House is a clear sign to many that President Donald Trump is significantly weakened going into 2020. After all, the Democrats won the greatest number of seats since the 1974 midterms. But reading too much into the midterm tea leaves is a dangerous practice. In truth, these midterms say very little about the next presidential election, and as attention shifts to 2020, Trump still remains the favorite.

This prediction comes from our analysis of more than 500 elections, which indicates that a typical incumbent president with approval ratings at or above 40 percent should be the favorite to win re-election.

With Trump’s current 44 percent approval rating, he should have about a 70 percent chance of winning in 2020.
...

Furthermore, even with an approval rating at 40 percent, Trump would still have better than a 50/50 chance of winning.

Anyone could run for the Republican nomination. Usually they won't if a sitting president is going to be running. I think you need to show enough support to be on the ballot papers in most states so that is already a fairly high bar that most tend to wait it out for another four years.

Don't forget Carter and Bush #1. The incumbent doesn't always win.

And if there was a tense bit of employment bonus, or he fudged the stats, there wa a postive metric, he can sneak back in. BUT I feel the younger voters will step up, the lazy voters will step up.

BUT if he got back in that will most certainly set the US back decades. It may actually benefit the rest of the globe as we cast them aside and battle on. Maybe the globe needs that divorce. Tough, but its 8 Billion vs 300 Million.

In the early days of this, there was a lot of discontent with the orange guy. Its hard to fight that as you may well be an older white male, going against the trend, but many did voice up. Look to Australia, they have no issue getting secret support then unleashing it. They have almost made it an art. What if I was a Democrat, I would go after the standard Republican (not the 80yo white male) and grab that vote. Be conservative but not white supremacist conservative. I would BAG the Democrats, but give myself leeway with them, Id do what Rump did, Marketing. IMHO US politics is WAY psychological. In normal countries, its much more predictable.

Cuomo: Trump panders to bad guys like never before

CNN's Chris Cuomo examines why President Donald Trump is complimentary of strongmen world leaders, like Hungary's far-right nationalist prime minister Viktor Orbán, saying Trump "admires" the qualities they exhibit.

There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and ... stupid lies.

Surely not even the most gullible of Trump's followers are going to believe these tweets ?

The third tweet there is absolute gold. He treats people like cattle. And people are dumb.

But they keep defending him. Somehow they get the idea he is being tough and standing up for America. What can you do in the face of such wilful stupidity? They are allowed to vote.
