There needs to be an immediate cease fire to allow humanitarian efforts of food, medical, water and the evacuation of civilians without being bombed.

Evacuate to where? Israel won't take them, Egypt won't take them. Gaza is still blockaded and that won't change.

A fair chunk wouldn't leave anyway as they are justfiiably concerned about never being able to return.

To evacuate northern Gaza without being bombed.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Biden commenting on the hospital tragedy.

"The missile was fired by the other team".

What the ...? Team? This is not a basketball match.

This guy needs to retire today.

I really don’t think there’s anywhere for them to do. Gaza is incredibly dense, even without this mess. There’s no real answer.

Gaza has some areas of farmland, but taken all together, it is one of the most densely populated areas in the world, with an average density of Brooklyn, NY. This isn't a "Just run and hide in the hills somewhere" sort of situation for the Palestinians.

The US vetoes a UN call for a humanitarian pause. It is time that this veto crap was abolished but I guess the international bullies would veto any move to do so.

The dogged and unwavering support of Israel by the US is frankly astonishing. Israel can effectively do what it wants and the US will either turn a blind eye or suspend the truth for a while.

It blows me away.

This snippet from the article Israel lobby in the United States - Wikipedia might explain it. It's all about the money.

A summary of pro-Israel campaign donations for the period of 1990–2008 collected by OpenSecrets indicates current totals and a general increase in proportional donations to the US Republican party since 1996.[51] OpenSecrets' 1990–2006 data shows that "pro-Israel interests have contributed $56.8 million in individual, group and soft money donations to federal candidates and party committees since 1990."[52] In contrast, Arab-Americans and Muslim PACs contributed slightly less than $800,000 during the same (1990–2006) period.[53] In 2006, 60% of the Democratic Party's fundraising and 25% of that for the Republican Party's fundraising came from Jewish-funded PACs. According to a Washington Post estimate, Democratic presidential candidates depend on Jewish sources for as much as 60% of money raised from private sources.

I hear you, but if the veto was abolished, the big 5 would simply refuse to be part of the council and ignore any resolutions it might bring. At least this way they take a seat at the table.

I find the last part of that Wikipedia quote very odd in that context. The first part of the quote discusses donations and funding originating from pro-Israel sources. That is very clear and easy to understand. Then it jumps to this:

In 2006, 60% of the Democratic Party's fundraising and 25% of that for the Republican Party's fundraising came from Jewish-funded PACs. According to a Washington Post estimate, Democratic presidential candidates depend on Jewish sources for as much as 60% of money raised from private sources.

It does not necessarily follow all those organisations or individuals are pro-Israel in the way that is suggested at all. The footnote provided on the Wikipedia article (is a book and) does not link to the claimed Washington Post source therefore it's nearly impossible to check.

Large Jewish protest in Washington today calling for peace and ceasefire. A smaller number of people entered a Congressional office building to protest peacefully and were later arrested.

Many Jewish people no doubt also took part in the larger pro-Gaza protests in New York last week.

He seems well suited to being a Fox News contributor. His main points:

1. Divide Gaza into north and south
2. Send all the women and children to Egypt [border is closed but nevermind]
3. Invade from the north
4. Gas the Hamas tunnels

The millenniums have done little to curb the bloodlust in one of the oldest cities in the world, considered holy to the three major Abrahamic religions -- Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.

At least he didn't recommend biological warfare, or dirty bombs.

There's still time for all that. Depends on whether the rest of the Arab decide it's time to pile on. Obviously they are still keeping their strategic ambiguity in public but I would be shocked if they aren't checking over the state of their procedures and delivery vehicles ready to get the officially-may-or-may-not-exist warheads installed. But there's a long way to go before they need to actually pull the trigger, so to speak.

The “Arabs” aren’t a cohesive group. The Sunni-Shia conflict is far nastier than most external conflicts.

Saying that there’s very little interest for most governments in the region to get involved beyond rhetoric and low level support. There’s really nothing to be gained for them in Gaza. They really aren’t keen on Hamas, which is why Egypt has blockaded Gaza for around 15 years.

Relations with a fair chunk of the Arab world and Israel has normalised in the last few years. They know they aren’t going anywhere.
