There's a very real chance that he'll win this - I'd say it's possibly evens or better at this point.

Agree, agencies that take gambling bets on political outcomes have Trump as favourite still.

Frankly I believe Trump and America deserve each other. I'm especially irked at former Republicans complaining that state rights have gone too far (yah, think?!?)

But a close race usually benefits the Democrat voters. I sometimes think predominantly Democrats won't put down their Lay's potatoes chips and Bud Light's unless their house is on fire.

Also Kamala fund raising is better than Trump's, and U.S. politics is all about the money. The star power Kamala can draw upon is much better than the "D" list celebrities that Trump has.

...but...

Trump does have more billionaires on his side.

It hard to compete in a media space when one side plays to people's negative feelings like fear, doom, racism, love of authoritarianism.

Many Americans will happily do away with democracy for order, control, and obedience to authority figures.

Donald Trump takes betting lead over Kamala Harris for first time since debate: USA Today

Former President Donald Trump took the lead over Vice President Kamala Harris in the betting odds for the White House for the first time since the Sept. 10 presidential debate.

Trump's largest lead at the betting houses USA TODAY has regularly surveyed comes at BetOnline where he stands -140 to Harris' +120.

The action, which U.S. bookmakers cannot legally take part in, held steady through September but has seen Trump come back into favor over the past two weeks.

The resurgence follows a week where Trump has used increasingly dark language about immigrants in the United States. For example, he said he would use the Aliens Enemies Act of 1798 to deport undocumented immigrants at a rally in Colorado, the same law that led to the Japanese Internment Camps of World War II.

[I saw some moron on Instagram describing Harris at her rallies as talking in "a word salad"...

Ive noticed this too. after watching his recenet documentaries and movie and those a couple decades old.

One thing its seems from his early 80s devlopment is to deny and never take blame or admit loss and keep counter punching, simply to state a mirror of what they throw at you. This word salad thing from his fans is a prime example.

Now there is a few illegal imm gangs taking over a couple of buildings during the hurricane in NC, Trump is stating its the entire city.

Trump has won the border debate, despite his actions in being responsible for the Border Bill not getting to signature.

IMO with 3 weeks to go she needs to keep pressing for his mental acuity on the back of the 25th amendment.

Its Hitler.

A: appeal to peoples fears, division, then fear of something being manipulated that he created (he didnt sign the border bill)

B: appeal to peoples patriotism, that only "he" can be there savior, despite the Biden govt trying to do what he will do.

She's definitely trying: https://edition.cnn.com/2024/10/15/politics/harris-trump-unhinged-analysis/index.html

The vice president warned Monday that the ex-president was “unstable,” “unhinged” and out for “unchecked power” as she sent a jolt of urgency though her campaign with 21 days to go.

“Watch his rallies. Listen to his words. He tells us who he is, and he tells us what he would do if he is elected president,” Harris told a large crowd in Pennsylvania after a weekend when Trump’s authoritarian rhetoric reached chilling new levels and hinted at the extreme nature of his potential second term.

ezbee: Yes absolutely blame third party voters and especially a 'vacant' leader Stein. In a FPP race where they are single digit % points. Especially where there are positons in State Legistlatures and Congress to go for that are more realistic targets. Why spend your precious resource on being a spoiler, 'making things worse' rather than support some progress. So you would rather have Nothing than Something if I can't have Everything, Spoiled Children ! [..] We talk about Trump's enablers being just as bad if not worse and Stein is a Trump enabler.

Stein says most of her voters in the presidential race were never going to vote for the Democrat or Republican candidates.

The big issue for many voters in this campaign is the destruction of Gaza performed with an almost continuous and uninterrupted supply of American weapons and weapons systems. The Democrat mayor of Dearborn - an Arab and Muslim majority city in Michigan - says there is absolutely no way he is going to ask people who have had most of their family in Gaza killed to vote for Harris.

If Harris truly wants those votes the solution is simple - come up with a better policy.

Problem is this is perfect for his base.
If you spend all day watching Evangelical preachers begging for money for their next corporate jet.
Trump is real entertainment and makes more sense.

For the rest onto their next sixpack or bottle of whisky, this also gets better with every drink.

Meantime the Grand Old Party notaries once so high an mighty, try to paint this as normal.
To become 1930's Italy or Spain is no big deal.

Now with Trump and those around them talking of using Military and Tribunals to get revenge maybe.
1970's Argentina

People still want to vote for him as this will all be good for the economy.

I reckon he sticks with Bidens economy like he did Obama. He will sign the border bill but rename it the Trump Border Bill (of all Bills). Im doubting he will do Tariffs.

This news interview with Fox is a last throw of the dice for Harris. Super risky, with a interviewer who is a respected journalist (yes they do on occasion occur on fox) Its taken it to his audience, but can she spin it like Trump does, dont answer the question but come out looking like you are fixing a problem. For me this just seems like fox wants to hammer her so they can flood SM/YT with Sky News aus as well.

The Blue wall states are trending lower. She has to do something.

This would hold a lot more water if the Dems machine hadn't dogged defended Biden as being up to it when he wasn't.

She's also not on solid ground given the 60 minutes interview which was edited to insert more cohesive answers to questions rather than the order she was actually asked.

Frankly I'm not sure either one is fit for office, but I know one definitely isn't.

🤔

Also - https://www.thebulwark.com/p/harris-goes-on-fox-trump-sticks-to

Harris is doing something outside the square for her and going on Fox and possibly Joe Rogan's podcast.

Conversely:

In recent weeks, Trump has almost exclusively decamped to outlets that are already in his tank. Since the September 10 presidential debate, with the exceptions of a Las Vegas ABC affiliate and a quick NewsNation hit, nearly all of Trump’s 14 one-on-one interviews have been with interviewers ranging from friendly to sycophantic...

The mental acuity thing, its been pretty much the trend (I forget the word used in an article) in recent times to submit your prior to submit your physicals which is about two pages long. But Don even said he would submit his, whats in there he doesnt want seen? More to the point though of late is psych groups coming out trying to sound the alarm but largely being ignored by media as "just Don" termed sane-washing. Surely the public deserves better?

RE the 60mins, I forget the question, but she just freezes when she doesnt know how to politicize (aka lying to you and I). Just like the question from the View, she couldnt think of "something" she would do different to Biden, she has proposed a dozen or more changes but Swing Voters looking for Change just hear "much of the same" with such a terrible answer. She needs to stop relying upon her ethics when stumped (this was a gimme to what she will do different compared to how ruthless Fox will be), she was trying to show loyalty to Joe, but the election is well passed that now. She could have said "of course, I have a number of economic proposals different to Joe, but lets be fair, he ran an economy during a once in a century pandemic and its associated recession, whoever goes next has it EASY in comparison". etc

This is kind of frightening.....

another strategy I think high risk but possibly high reward, is to cozy up to Jill Stein and maybe offer her a role to liaise on how to solve this extremely complex issue that Stein seems to think is as easy as picking one side.

But if it worked for Don with RFKjr offering him a health gig in exchange for his endorsement/votes, it cant hurt the two meeting to talk about things and explain she doesnt see it one sided like Trump, maybe you could help us further, as Trump plans to help Israel "finish the job". Especially as those votes help win Michigan (I think its Michigan).

An article from an unexpected source: The Hastings Center is an independent, nonpartisan bioethics think tank.

They are not controversial, frequently called upon for policy advice around health by all sides.

The Alarming History Behind Trump’s “Bad Genes” Comments: The Hastings Center

n a recent interview with conservative radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt, Donald Trump drew a link between immigration, violent crime, and genetics, stating, “we got a lot of bad genes in our country right now.” Comments such as these are not new. Claims regarding genes and human behavior have long been used to perpetuate social harm. Understanding this history shows just how pervasive and harmful the former president’s comments are. They also illustrate how influential they can be in shaping social policies.

Trump’s interview with Hewitt wasn’t the first time the former President made disparaging comments about migrants. During his October presidential debate with Kamala Harris, for instance, he claimed that Haitian immigrants were eating pets – harmful misinformation that has left many members of the Haitian community fearful for their safety. The Hewitt interview also wasn’t the first time Trump vocalized false ideas about genes.

In 1988, for example, he was recorded on the Oprah Winfrey Show saying to its host, “You have to be born lucky in the sense that you have to have the right genes.” Later, while running for president in 2016 and throughout his tenure in the White House, Trump was captured in video recordings making statements like “some people cannot genetically handle pressure.”

The former president’s latest comments about immigrants bringing “bad genes” into the United States are part of a longer, racialized history in which claims about genetic difference have been used to further social divisions, explain social inequalities, and justify racial violence. Specifically, such claims have been used to resist the abolition of slavery, prohibit interracial marriage, forcibly sterilize the poor and communities of color, restrict immigration, and even rationalize mass-shootings.

In the early 20th century, political and scientific leaders frequently invoked biology to explain society’s ills, using it to pass exclusionary policies that emboldened the elite and harmed the marginalized.
