Lauren Southern et al will be speaking in NZ after all.

Someone in the locked free speech thread (lol - how ironic) asked what she had said that was so hateful or racist or whatever... the only answers coming back were along the lines of “everyone knows it” or “any google search will show you” but no actual examples of anything that would come close to being “hate speech.”

Here’s a link to her Melbourne speech. I watched the whole thing and although I did hear an opinion that is likely to be unpopular with some people, it was well reasoned, well researched and well put forward.

I don’t necessarily agree with what she is saying, but frankly I’m surprised by the amount of outrage that this woman generates

It sounds like ignorant racist drivel to me. "defile western civilization" blah blah "tear down our statues". Generally, Southern is a warm-up act.

She's a fascist - and an activist / recruiter for the alt-right fascist movement, and a troll.

I don't give a flying f$%k what she calls herself - she's fascist scum.

If you think she's going to come out at a public meeting with open white supremacist fascist rants - you need to get a grip on how these filthy dirty evil scum operate.

"Challenging multiculturalism" is dangerous abject BS.  We live in a multicultural society, Australia is multicultural.  Her views are not valid.

I'm surprised that embedded youtube link to an alt-right / fascist recruitment seminar lasted this long on GZ.

You’re sounding a tad unhinged there Fred. Maybe take a few deep breaths and let your blood pressure subside.

Racism works in two directions, but I did see somewhere how she stated that we misunderstand or mistake multiculturalism and integration.

For instance despite only making up 1.5% of the UK population, British Pakistanis have on average twice the number of children as other races and account for 30% of all birth defects. This is because over 55% of British Pakistanis marry a first cousin, causing unnecessary costs for the NHS.

Even those that have been labeled racists can still carry important messages and scenarios for consideration. In this lady's case one of her messages is that integration can be a real issue.

Oh FFS.  Now "scientific racism" based on something actually completely unrelated to race.

They also don't have "30% of all birth defects" - the figure was 30% of specific but still rare recessive genetic disorders.  Other birth defects are extremely common. Muslims don't generally drink.  That means they'd have a far lower incidence of fetal alcohol syndrome, and FAS is a much more common problem.

I don't agree that she is a racist or a fascist, but even if she is, she has EVERY right to come here and say her piece. You don't have to like her views, and you are absolutely entitled to repudiate them and decry her saying them, but she has the right to hold them, and to talk to others about them. If you believe someone should be prevented from expressing their opinion, no matter how much you dislike it, then I'm afraid YOU are the fascist.

"She should not have a right", is also a valid, entitled view to have. If you believe I should not have the right to my view then who's the facist? Is only she entitled to express her opinions? And not me of her?

Oh dear...how dare someone have an alternative view to yours...it shouldnt be allowed.

I disagree with some of what she says, but I do not hold anything against her for the views she holds. She doesnt appear to be inciting violence or racism from what I have seen.

If you dont like her so much the solution is easy...dont watch her.

No point in letting your blood pressure rise to such an extent as there will ALWAYS be people with these views.

Oh no she doesn't.

She has been granted the privilege of being able to enter NZ on a work visa. That visa has "character" grounds for refusal, and she doesn't have the rights of a NZ citizen.

I think that a mistake has been made - you may disagree.

In any case if she was refused a visa then she's not being "silenced", you can still buy her silly book, watch her silly youtube videos, be her "friend" on facebook.  So refusing her a visa is hardly "fascist" - not even close.  We refuse people visitors visas for all kinds of reasons.

She did take part in an (unsuccessful) terrorist group action against refugees - that should have been enough to refuse her entry, regardless of her political affiliation.

She is a fascist.

Yeah, I read the FUG. It suggests things like:
Avoid ad hominem attacks
Be polite
Don’t shout
Be considerate

I didn’t note anywhere that users could rant like this:
Fred99:

She's a fascist - and an activist / recruiter for the alt-right fascist movement, and a troll.

And I didn’t see any suggestion that it was improper to express concern for that users wellbeing if they did.

Peace friend!

Threads like this are like worms insinuating themselves into good fruit to rot from within. Is racism bad? Well, maybe only a little racism is less bad. Is fascism evil? Maybe we can get away with just a little bit instead. Let’s sound ‘reasonable’ and see how far we can penetrate.

Lauren Southern and those who think people like her have anything valuable to say are brain worms gnawing away at the liberal values they so despise. They nibble at this and nibble at that, looking for a way in. Oh, they don’t sound so bad, bleat the nibbled brains. Let them speak. We must respect free speech.

The last thread was locked because the brain worms were getting out of control. This one should be as well.

Agreed. Dogs are not entitled to arrive in NZ without going through quarantine, and getting MPI approval anyway. The fact that this dog can talk does not give her the right to come here and spew her garbage all over New Zealand. Perhaps MPI can dispose of her in one of those yellow bins on arrival, or put her through some of that radiation treatment. After that, maybe she would be good to speak.

I can't believe we let this racist b1tch into our country.

should be muzzled like the dog she is and forced to shut up.

I have to say I find this kind of misogynistic language pretty disgusting. It looks like trolling to me.

This stuff has a way of bringing the worst out of me. Woman makes my blood boil.
