A) Innocent until proven guilty.
B) However, I'm a little surprised that she's "staying tight lipped", as a lot of people will take her silence to mean "guilty", as otherwise one would be vocal about their being innocent??

Generally people are not that pragmatic when it comes to political scandals.

Its only OK to pass judgment straight away if the accused sits on the right. 🤣

Maybe they should at least wait until it becomes a scandal. At the moment it is little more than a suspicion. "Police can confirm a report was received about an incident at a Ponsonby retailer on 23 December 2023," the spokesperson said. "Initial enquiries are still being made into this report and Police are not able to comment further at this stage".

Sorry but a police complaint about theft about a justice spokesperson in a political party is a scandal.
I'd be more charitable if we had at least had a token denial or claim of a misunderstanding.

Has a formal police complaint been laid? I thought they were still just conducting an investigation. If charges have been filed then I agree.

This was in the Herald at 10:30 this morning. I am basing my comments on that. I don't know if there is anything more recent:
“Initial inquiries are still being made into this report and police are not able to comment further at this stage” a police statement said.

Or anything at all involving politics. Both the Ardern and Luxon threads are full of hot takes without waiting to see what does and doesn't get done.
Herald article has accusation of $15K of stuff and more than one occasion of it happening.
Pretty moronic way to flush $200k career down the toilet.

List MPs don't get paid $200k
Who cares what she earns? Totally irrelevant to this discussion.

$164K base + perks (super, accomodation, travel) would be gettting close. And also yet still markedly less than what she could be earning as a solicitor in the commercial world.
