I can write a pretty good resume, having done technical writing in a previous life.

But evidently there is more to it than writing skills.

Has anyone used a resume service and felt it was worth the money? Any recommendations?

I used a guy recommended by my then-manager who totally redid my CV and resume. After sending out the one he did, I immediately started getting interviews.

Reading the subject, I wondered what application you where using to resume from a sleeping / hibernate state.

Only when reading the full post did I realise you are talking about a professional resumé / CV writer service.

And what was the difference between your own created CV and the professional one? Layout? Content? Etc?

All of the above. He totally rewrote it and tidied up a lot of the content I had. It was also easier to read. Well worth the money! :)

$150, from memory. This was in 2012.
