I'm trying to sort out an issue, previous flatmates claim that they didn't receive my rent (I was there for a very short time) - I sent through the supporting statement + a screenshot of the account I paid into and forwarded the account number they told me to pay into - all match.

But, they got the account number wrong in the email which means my payment went into thin air, since I've paid it into the account I was asked to I know it's not my fault but what actually happens when you pay into the wrong account? And what can be done to get the money back?

Sounds like the sort of dopey rubbish too many people are doing these days.

The only thing they had to get right was the bank account number.

I hope they aren't training to be airline pilots....
