I think I'm a little behind the times with developments for my TCL 55C2US.......

Reading elsewhere about TCL updates, it seems that Android 8 (Oreo?) is available, or will be soon.

Okay, so 8 is available. But how can I get it? I tried clicking 'Update' in the TV menu but it says 'not available'.

Doesn't it work online?

OTA update does not work 100%

Thanks for the link, details below.

No recent updates for my 55C2US - probably too old.

I already have v379 - which, depending on how you read the dates, is either 10th May 2018 or 5th October 2018.

If you apply the date logic that's used by versions 504 and 519, i.e., 25th July and 31st July 2018, v379 would be 5th October 2018. Which I doubt.

I think I'll leave it as is - it does everything I want, including fast ON (which, apart from a speedy start, skips all the promotional crap)

Maybe when 8K becomes affordable, I'll upgrade to a newer model. Cheers 😊

android 8.

i'm pretty sure that android 8 started from v39* and up.

with every release they fixing something, adding, removing, etc. no public release tracker :( which is lame...

various countries with the same models have different latest official firmware. NZ has NONE for most of the TVs.

TCL europe has many updates.

Not sure seemed to do very smoothly and maybe about 5 minutes to update. Still trying to set up home page a bit hard to navigate but looks better, and update seemed to keep all my settings the same. Just ran tv guard which was always slow before down to about 60% and now only went to 97% and very quick now. Still haven't tried ntfs files yet will check later let you know when find result.

Not sure if made by tcl but in apps section and its like a cleaner, clears junk files, used memory and startup and i use it it about every 4 or 5 days just the one click optimiser. There is also an app manager and permission manager section but haven't used these yet as not sure how to do.

Just tried external 3tb drive with movies and shows on which played files ok through vlc player on nougat, now turning on drive with oreo and just says corrupted usb drive and  nothing works . Also message saying can fix drive but didn't do and checked drive on computer still ok about 2 tb of movies lucky. I have es file explorer installed so may try this tomorrow with usb flash drive and see if this works. Also tried on demand as seen some people said not working but on demand all seems to work ok. Hopefully no other problems will turn up?

Is there an NZ source for the updates ?  I looked at the Australian link but my TV is running a version higher than what is available.

Just curious what is current.
