Well, this one came out of the blue. Did NZ not get a 4K Ultra HD release when it was originally released? Its not listed on the JBAU website. Strange 😲

Rant!

What are Warner Bros. thinking? They have the biggest worldwide Box-Office hit of the year, in Barbie which is also the biggest Box-Office hit in the 100 years that Warner have been in business and they release a standard 4K Ultra HD with no accompanying Blu-ray and bare bones HDR10. If you want/need the Blu-ray, then you have to buy the SteelBook or the Blu-ray release. Personally I don't need/want the Blu-ray, but many collectors do. They are also releasing Meg 2 which HAS got Dolby Vision on board, and, after much searching and browsing of forums, I believe that no Blu-ray will be included in the standard 4K Ultra HD release, but the SteelBook will have one. So why are they asking NZ$49.98 for the standard release. JBNZ still have the place holder artwork and info which indicates that there is a Blu-ray included and could be classed as false advertising if it turns out that I am right. The final artwork on JBAU website clearly depicts no Blu-ray and after clicking on the link, there is no mention of a Blu-ray.

I look on iTunes and find Meg 2 for sale at NZ$34.99. NZ$15 cheaper than the upcoming physical release. Its got Dolby Vision/Dolby Atmos on board, and of course; no Blu-ray, (but there is the option to download a 720p version to my PC) and will most likely drop to NZ$24.99 once the physical media is available (The same applies to Barbie). Its a ploy that the studios are using to squeeze your last dollar out of you. Release the Digital format about a month or so before the physical at NZ$34.99 or NZ$29.99, then drop the price by NZ$10 when the physical is released. All meant to push us toward Digital and streaming.

I will post an update here if new information comes to hand.

Its what the accountants have told them is most profitable, they will continue with it until its not, then they will change to a new one - (which will be equality likely to still treat the actual consumer like dirt)

Disney are releasing INDIANA JONES AND THE DIAL OF DESTINY: Ultimate Collector's Edition on 4K Ultra HD/Blu-ray/Digital Code in the US on December 5th. The good news is that its a US wide-release, Meaning that it will be available from Amazon for anyone in Australasia to buy. No news on a European release, but its quite likely to happen.

There are two Exclusives at the usual outlets. Best Buy will have a SteelBook Edition, whilst Walmart have Custom Artwork and a Limited Edition Enamel Pin.

So, here is the info on the Edition that we can buy from Amazon.

Harrison Ford returns to the role of the legendary hero archaeologist for this highly anticipated final installment of the iconic franchise—a big, globe-trotting, rip-roaring cinematic adventure. Starring alongside Ford are Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, John Rhys-Davies, Shaunette Renée Wilson, Thomas Kretschmann, Toby Jones, Boyd Holbrook, Olivier Richters, Mads Mikkelsen and newcomer Ethann Isidore. I've noticed that Mighty Ape are slowly dropping back on new releases. They didn't stock The Flash which is a big title for them to overlook and they haven't added several of JBNZ's pre-0rders. Hopefully they will get back in the game shortly.
