Is there an NZ source for the updates ?  I looked at the Australian link but my TV is running a version higher than what is available.

Just curious what is current.

Well, damn! My 55C2US just updated itself to '8.0.0' so I guess that's Android 8.

The menus are different, but everything seems to work the same, except...

FAST START doesn't work!

Is it possible to downgrade? And if so, how to prevent another automatic update?

Don't think it would be beta version as myself and few others recieved it ota at that same time and also Australia recieved V534 then also but was a bit problematic for them. Where was that update information information posted for New Zealand model only?

Think this is only beta version and don't think i would want to risk this after reading reports on whirlpool forums and tcl putting up then taking down and putting back up with warning message(beta version for HDR resolution do not distribute with out Level 3 permission). Link to whirlpool forums with info regarding this update,

Speak of the devil, TCL got back to me with the firmware image for C2 and X2s for Android N.

Here's the email quoted.

Thank you for contacting TCL customer support.

We already released the update for Android N-

Please follow these steps to do software update

Android N software- V364

  • Download the  file and copy  into an empty USB device on a fat 32 format
  • Please highlight the link (don’t click) then paste the link on the search bar then press enter and you will can download the software from there.

https://www.dropbox.com/s/mmw0ur9eneuwbcy/Update_sign.pkg?dl=0

  1. Turn off the TV (mains power – unplug it from the power point /socket)
  2. Insert USB stick with the correct software (if there’s a service port, make sure to plug it there)
  3. Press and hold the power button on the TV (not remote)
  4. Turn on mains power to the TV (while keeping the power button pressed)
