Nety: yip with sbiddle on this. You should not need to set anything up. HDMI is able to tell the video card what it can handle. Just unplug the VGA, plug in the HDMI and boot.

Like I said at the beginning of the thread, just make sure you have the TV on and selected to its HDMI input before you boot the PC up. If no other video connections are set up then the PC should poll the HDMI socket, find a TV there ready to handshake, and away you go. That's certainly how mine works.

i noticed the term difference between PC section and COMPONENY HDMI section (in the manual scan in my first post) dsub just says the resolution and hz but COMPONENY HDMI section says 24P and 50P. also what is the overscan?

Hi Gumdigger,

Firstly, 1980x1080 has been listed in this thread as the full HD spec; actually it is 1920x1080.

However, as per the last few posts, the card and TV should automatically negoiate the resolution themselves.

Try this starting with everything powered off:

Connect with HDMI cable only
turn on TV
turn on PC

You should see a bios message then windows start. If you don't:

1. Is there a bios message?
2. If yes, what happens next? If the PC and TV are having trouble negoiating you will see the TV flickering as different resolutions are tried and maybe a osd 'resolution not supported' (or whatever the panasonic equivalent is - I have a philips.

ALWAYS CHECK THAT YOUR HDMI CABLE WORKS BEFORE (DONT MATTER HOW MUCH YOU PAID FOR IT AND HOW NEW IT IS)
ALWAYS READ YOUR TV MANUALS BEFORE YOU CONNECT COMPLICATED EQUIPMENTS (NOT ALL CONNECTIONS ACCEPT EQUAL SIGNALS)

thanks for your support guys, it seems my front hdmi which i was connecting to only supported DIGITAL ONLY signals and hdmi 1 & 2 supported DIGTAL and rest.

other thing was that my hdmi cable was faulty though it was a cheapy pudney gold cable. they have horrible shields which dont maintain 75 ohms when bent.

Tv dispays 1080P banner in the corner and when i go to nvidia manger it says its doing 1080 at 60hz. does this mean i am doing 24P for HD movies and channels?
