I sit 3.5 metres from a 50" plasma when watching TV or stuff during the day, but I sit the same distance from a 100" screen (with a projector) for movies.

Both feel right to me.

I must have around 3.5m or 4m from my sofa to my 55" TV and i'd quite like a 65 or 75" er. My girlfriend thinks I'm crazy and tells me it's big enough, but then again she's happy with the speakers build into the TV so I don't put too much weight in her opinions on AV stuff.

65" TVs are significantly bigger than 55".

So this thread is getting on a bit...
Have you bought your TV yet? If so, how do you find an 55" LED from 3.5 meters? They can be a little unforgiving with lower quality content than equivalent sized plasmas.

Got the TV, find the picture not too bad. There is sometimes "blocks" around the images, but am running an Ultraplus Satellite Decoder with it until I get around to putting in more cable for my UHF aerial.
Watching movies on it though is stunning, probably not blacks like Plasma's have, but then I'm not a fan of plasma's due to glare.  And 3D (depending on movie) is great.  The TV also has 2D to 3D conversion, and although not true 3D it does a good job of making it as close to true 3D as possible.

As for size and distance, when the TV was first unpacked, it looked huge, but now it doesn't look that big at all.

Just have to work out the best Tru-motion settings now
