Arrow Films UK are releasing HELLRAISER (1987) on 4K Ultra HD on February 26th. Its a Dark Water Arrow Store Exclusive, available to Pre-order from their website for £22.00. Hellraiser

Stephen King was once famously quoted as saying, "I have seen the future of horror... his name is Clive Barker." That future was realised in 1987 with the release of Barker's directorial debut Hellraiser.

Hedonist Frank Cotton (Sean Chapman) thinks he has reached the limits of earthly pleasure. But a mysterious puzzle box will take him further than he can possibly imagine, opening the doors to a dominion where pain and pleasure are indivisible and summoning the Cenobites, whose experiments in the higher reaches of experience will tear his soul apart. When he manages to escape, Frank returns to the world skinless and in need of help. Now his former lover Julia (Clare Higgins) must kill to make him whole again. But the Cenobites want Frank back, and there'll be hell to pay when they find him.

Introducing the world to the iconic Pinhead, Hellraiser became an instant genre classic upon release and remains one of the most frighteningly original visions in horror.

FYI: I ordered two films directly from Arrow and the parcel arrived today in perfect condition. It only took about a week to arrive from the UK. Recommended.

On November 17th 2020, Sony released in the USA a 4K Box Set of the six original Resident Evil films. Its a nice set with the 4K Ultra HD and Blu-ray of each film in their own individual DigiPak packaging, inside a sturdy collector's box. Some time ago I added the set to my Amazon US wish list @ US$95.99. Just yesterday there was a price drop to US$60.49 which would be roughly NZ$100 when GST etc. is added. Shipping is free. All discs are Region Free.

Resident Evil Box Set

I have owned the films on Blu-ray disc, but I sold them when I erroneously decided to go 💯 Digital. There are some weak episodes among these films, but overall I love 'em. Great Home Cinema movies.

Shout Factory have three new release Collector's Editions coming up on March 19th. All three are up for Pre-order on Amazon US and will likely be available at Amazon AU after release. Price on Amazon US is US$39.98 but expect it to drop to around US$30 on release.

All three films include a 4K Ultra HD (Region Free) and Blu-ray (Region A Locked) disc.

Welcome to the Weekly NEW ZEALAND 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Release Schedule for Thursday January 11th

Well, still nothing new to add to the schedule this week, but we should see things start to happen as we near the end of January. There are many promising films getting theatrical releases in 2024 and we can only hope that they will all get physical releases in NZ. Disney/20th Century Studios/Marvel/Pixar will have to be imported or purchased digitally, but the rest of the studios have all got distributors in Australia. For those of us who browse the various Amazon websites, there are bargains to be had with free shipping in many instances; we just have to look for them.

Taking over the reins from Best Buy US; Walmart have an AQUAMAN and the LOST KINGDOM exclusive SteelBook on their website. I was hoping that Amazon would have got the exclusives from Best Buy, but unfortunately not.

The good news for those interested in this title is that this will most likely be the SteelBook that we get over here. JBAU have it for Pre-order, but the final artwork hasn't been confirmed.
