Sennheiser Urbanite XL Wireless are 30% off $399 at PBTech today.  I don't know if that is a good deal or not..

This seems a good deal, I have a pair of HD650's and a BeyerDynamic T1 and wondering if this would be a reasonable "upgrade" over what I had?

dickytim: Looking for my next set of headphones. I am going to the gym, and also would be good when riding, but I want some wireless, in-ear with controls on them (volume up/down, next song etc.). I am currently using the iPhone headphones and they are good enough for this task, what should I be looking for with what I want. Will get around 1-2 hours solid work everyday. Really don't want to spend too much more than $50 but can stretch if needed.

if these are like the rest of the Brainwavz headphones these will be good.

forgot this   enter coupon code at checkout BLU200REL and get $15 off!

These arrived today, well on 18th but held as unable to delivery.

My first impressions are very good.

Volume: More than adequite

Quality: Very reasonable for a cheap set, sound reproduction is actually very good, one thing I notice is that "s" seems to almost have a hiss at the end, not sure if that makes sense, it is almost like the singer has a slight lisp!

Controls: Everything I wanted, volume, pause, next and previous song.

Comfort: I put them in about 2 hours ago and they are still very comfortable, I can hardly notice them.

Battery: TBC

Ease of set up: Very easy.

I will update once I have been to the gym with them but for $60 including postage with the $15 USD off I think they are excellent value.

My first impressions are very good.

Volume: More than adequite

Quality: Actually very good, the more I listen to them the more I like them, with the right pads on they are really positive sounding.

Controls: Everything I wanted, volume, pause, next and previous song.

Comfort: After a few hours of use my ears did get sore so I changed for the foam inserts, which are much better.

Battery: 4-5 hours

Ease of set up: Very easy.

Phone use: This is where these are shining for me, I don't have to change them out to use my phone, which is my main line. The calls are very clear and I can be heard well by the caller.

I will update once I have been to the gym with them but for $60 including postage with the $15 USD off I think they are excellent value.

Still haven't made it to the gym.

A slight update see in the quoted section.

Not really related to buying headphones. But I have a couple of sets,

Sennheiser Momentum on ear and Sennheiser CX275S earbuds.

Now the on ear ones sound just fine, however on a plane, I can't actually get them loud enough if I'm watching a movie, or sometimes listening to music on my phone, I'll have to exceed the "listening at loud volume" warning for what I think is a normal level. However with the earbuds I never get close to that volume. Is this simply a difference between an on ear versus earbud thing? Or is there something wrong with the Momentums?

the device does not know what volume (read: SPL or sound pressure level) your eardrum is getting hammered by.

so if you shove the momentum into your ear it will probably sound louder than your in-ears.

long answer: many factors

1. the efficiency of your cans. the more efficient the louder at the same watt output (measured at dB/mW).

2. the distance of the can from your ear drum. exponential decline with increased distance.

3. sound (read: energy) loss to the environment is infinitely greater with something outside your ear vs taped securely to the ear vs stuck inside the ear

What to do?

I currently have the HIFIMan he500 paired with the iFi Micro iDSD, Im looking for more fun and bass, should i upgrade the headphones, like the audeze LCD, or should I buy a better amp for the HE500?

Heh I don't suppose you want to lend me your IFI do you ? :) I want to buy one, but I wanted to try it first :) (I'd be prepared to pay a deposit or something), but many people here can vouch for me.

The HE-560's are apparently quite an upgrade over the HE-500's but as to whether that would specifically meet your needs I am not sure sorry. Best to read some reviews with a large pinch of salt beside you ! :)

Anyone know or have an HD-800 they would consider parting with for a week. I'd really like to spend some time with it to determine if it might be a step in the right direction for me.

Make sure you take a look at the HD800S as well.  It seems they've made a couple of good improvements for consumers rather than engineers.  Slightly better bass response and getting rid of the distortion that many modders worked on.
