Not the noise cancelling version, but mixed reviews on that capability anyway.

Comfort is such a huge part of a good headphone experience in my mind.

I own a fair amount of Sennheiser equipment including the HD800S which are considered by most to be exceptional headphones. I do love the sound that comes out of them but feel frustrated at the way they feel around my ears.

By comparison in a lot of ways, I prefer my Beyer T1's or even my HD650's because despite not sounding quite as amazing, I feel so much more engaged because I am not thinking about the headphone fit.

I find it interesting that people consider the HD800s's some of the most comfortable around, but for me, they aren't UNCOMFORTABLE, they just aren't "not there" the way that I find the HD650's or T1's are. Even I would say, my recent aquisition of Astro A50 gaming headphones, which certainly aren't BAD for music, just Ok, but the comfort is excellent.

My old Grado 325is

Realised I haven’t got these out for a long time and I don’t want them just going to waste.

They work perfectly and the shell and guts and cable are in great condition: The pads have completely disintegrated though, so you will need to get some new ones from Amazon.com or wherever.

Come with the proper Grado case as well.

Can arrange a pickup/handover in Auckland or courier if you want to transfer the cost of postage.

When I started my headphone journey it was a toss up between Grado and Sennheiser and I went with the HD595s.

I've always had the "what if" sitting there.

Well, I feel slightly dumb now. I had a really good play with the HD800S's and I found that for some reason the last few adjustment steps were a bit difficult to adjust and so I thought it was as small as it could go. Once I did that and the band was resting on the top of my head more snuggly rather than being secured by the earphone bits, and was stable, there was less "feel" in the headphone bits and they rest more gently and "flat" on the side of my face. The cups are huge compared to everything else I own.

I still don't think they are the same nice "snug" feeling you get with some others, but it's nowhere near as distracting, and that has improved my listening experience quite a bit.

I have been powering them off my phone with a v1 Chord Mojo, but there is a reasonable difference between this and say powering it off my homemade Bottlehead Crack. I have an IFI DSD 512 I bought a few years ago and haven't opened, and I will try that this weekend.

Anyone interested in buying a brand new pair of Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro ltd edition?

I got these for music production, but at 250OHM they are too hard to drive from the device that I wanted them for and I am going to grab some Audio Technica ATH-50x instead.

They have been taken out of the box and used a few times over 3 days. Other than that they are brand new and mint.

Would take $200

This one will be a very reluctant sale, but my lovely Final Audio Sonorous VI's are also going unused and they deserve to be in high rotation.

Given I do all my home listening on my 2-channel hifi these days, they are just not getting a look-in.

They are about 4 years old and have original box, cables etc. They have new pads - the type C, perfect blend of comfort and sound - and sound amazing; the best closed-back I have heard.

The only signs of use or wear is some slight cracking on the surface of the pleather on the edge of the headband.

Amazing sound, amazing looks, amazing fit and finish and so easy to drive they will sound great straight out of your phone.

If your beyers were dt770’s then I would’ve jumped for them, have been somewhat after a good set of closed.

On that note I’ve actually been using my Sony XM3’s for gaming quite a bit now. Mainly due to a combination of my new ryzen rig ramping up cpu fans as well as external noise, the noise cancelling of the xm3’s is quite advantageous in multiplayer gaming.

The HD6xx are comfortable and nice to use but the noise pollution during the day is affecting their use in weekend gaming :(

They really do sound splendid as well. They were at the upper-mid range of the Sonorous line at the time they released and seemed to be the ones that everyone liked the best - even over the stupid expensive Xs.

Biggest issue was comfort with the original pads, but since release a few different iterations were made available and the ones I have now are very comfortable.

It was a struggle to think about selling them - I love them still - but they just never get used and it is such a shame, so I thought better to sell them on and have them do what they were designed to do!

Anyone know if you can use bluetooth headsets with the on board entertainment screens on the likes of Air NZ?

Been thinking about those Sony in ears, the ones with their best noise cancelling, but then wondering if you could actually use them with the screen on a plane or not?

I had DT770-80s a while back. I found the bass way too strong (and I liked lots of bass at the time), mids weak, and poor clarity. Audio Technica make great closed headphones, I have the A900. I don't like the headband on the latest version much though - at least last time I checked. Think it may have been the X series, maybe the Z series is better.
