Just an early heads-up that I've been arranging an Auckland headphones meet. There will be a wide selection of gear there with high-end headphones from Sennheiser, HiFiMan, Beyerdynamic, Audeze, AKG, Grado and more.

Billy from Computer Lounge will be bringing his extensive personal collection of top of the line headphones and amps, as well as showing a range of other things available for purchase at his store. A number of enthusiasts with fairly extensive collections like myself will also be showing our gear there. There is also some discussion occurring with a couple of major brands who may have a presence there to exhibit their wares.

UPDATE: Audio Reference will be in attendance now also guys smily_headphones1.gif

They'll be bringing a range of high-end stuff for our listening pleasure (headphone gear, they do specialise in speaker-fi to obit that is beyond the scope of this event). I'm especially keen to hear the Chord Hugo, which I believe they will have by then.

This is a NZ first, and in this country a very rare opportunity to hear all of these headphones - particularly those from more boutique brands like HiFiMan and Audeze.

The meet will be held Saturday the 24th of May at the Fickling Convention Centre (Hillsborough Room) in Three Kings in Auckland (see in Google Maps).

Nice clean modern venue with very ample parking (somewhat of a rarity in Auckland) and some nice amenities like cafe and pub nearby.

Now that time and place are confirmed, and there is a more solid platform to build on I can launch into the next stages of planning.

Naturally I will keep you informed of further developments as they take shape.

For any who are also members at Head-Fi there is a thread with some discussion happening here.

Yep, that sounds like HiFiMan :)

If it wasn't clear before guys there will be a number of enthusiasts with their gear on show, and there will definitely be a spectrum that encompasses a good selection of mid-Fi gear as well as all the ridiculous unobtainium.
