Hi

I have an LG Smart TV (2015, model 49UF770V) hooked up to a Sky decoder, connected to a Denon AVR using HDMI. The AVR is then connected to the TV's ARC HDMI port. It's the standard, small Sky box (new, but not their HD one)

My LG remote (Magic Remote) is able to control various devices once you tell the TV what kind of device (i.e. brand name and model) you're trying to connect. The trouble is, I haven't been able to determine those details - there are no apparent markings on the Sky box. The only thing that looks like a brand name is 'DVB' stamped on the rear. I tried the obvious guesses when trying to setup the LG remote to control the Sky box, but none of them control any aspect of the Sky transmission : channel, volume etc.

Is what I'm trying to do even possible?

Would love to get rid of that clunky Sky remote!

Matthew

I found the answer to your issue as I had the same problem so wanted to share it with you.

As you discovered the LG smart remote won't work with the SKY new decoder selecting any of the KAON remotes on the LGTV menu despite the fact it's a KAON 1120. GRR!

But I note the sky remote control is the same for both the myskyHDI and the new Kaon 1120 box ( I have second room and two decoder on site). The myskyHDI is a PACE unit.

So select PACE as the brand of settop box in the LG TV set up and select control type 13.
Voila! The LG TV remote will now control the (Kaon 1120) Sky set top box.
