Hi,

I've got a Dell XPS 13 9350. Love the laptop for many reasons. One of which is that it still provides various port options such as regular USB. However, options to output to external monitors is limited to the USB-C port. I have a USB-C adapter similar to the Apple one which provides USB and HDMI output. Works great but ideally I am wanting something that will enable me to use two external monitors. Not fussed about other ports.

I have had a look around and found some options. However, not sure what will work well with this laptop. Does anyone have any recommendations? Is there someone out there that currently has this laptop and is using a dock? Thoughts?

Dell Thunderbolt Dock TB15 - discontinued due to hardware issues

Dell Thunderbolt Dock TB16 - doesn't seem to have the best reviews either

Just following up on this after a few months. I'm still using it without a dock but it would be nice to get a decent dock. Anyone?

How about the HP thunderbolt dock?

Apparently it works with an XPS 13 with no issues.

Here's someone that uses it with their XPS 13 http://forum.notebookreview.com/threads/hp-thunderbolt-3-dock-with-my-xps-13-9350.791945/

Yeah thunderbolt dock are pretty steep. You might be able to find it somewhere else for less, I just chose the first website.

I've got a WD15 if you want to give it a go.

My understanding is it was more stable than the TB15 but I've never used it. I was planning to upgrade to an XPS from my Dell 13 Chromebook but I just cant justify at the moment.

I think it's also restricted to one 4K or two 1080p monitors but that may be enough for you.

Thanks for that. Does it come with the 180w power adapter? What sort of price would you sell it for? Thanks.

Yes, it has the 180w adaptor :)

I see there are some on TM now for $265 but I'm only interested in getting back what I paid which was $225. I'll ship for free, unless you're in Porirua/Wellington and we could meet up somewhere.

Thanks for that. I saw some sell for $199 on TM but didn't get them as wasn't sure about reliability. Also, i'm in Auckland so can't really test it out. Thank you though.

Old thread but just following up on this after a few months. I've been using a USB 3 Targus dock which is incredibly portable and provides USB, Ethernet, VGA and HDMI all powered through USB. Got it for about $100 and have been using it to display laptop plus two external monitors (one 4K). However, it still requires the Dell charger to be connected. I just got a Kensington SD4600P from the UK as it was about $150 and only requires the USB C cable. I need to do a bit of testing with it but it seems to struggle to output to two external monitors (screens just flicker then go black). I have connected it to one Full HD monitor now and it seems to be okay. Early days. Great thing is that this dock doesn't require the Dell charger to be connected.

Will play around with it further and see how it goes. If anyone else has a dock setup with their Dell XPS 13, feel free to share your experiences. Thanks!

Found the HP Elite Dock as suggested by Djmixerdomo last year. https://www.ebay.com/itm/NEW-HP-Elite-Thunderbolt-3-Dock-HP-ZBook-HQ-TRE-HSTNN-CX01-P5Q54UT-ABA-w-65W-AC/322811462265?epid=1380265474&hash=item4b29100279:g:BToAAOSwfVhZ-gqP

About $175NZD. Might take a punt depending on how I go with this Kensington.
