Personally I think NZ should not be left off the radar by the big org. Why doesnt Microsoft try a stand up booth or something during this years Ignite or maybe at a Noel Leeming or JB Hifi - just to see how much interest is generated. Apple is doing that in the Noel Leemings now which I think is quite nice. That way, they dont need to secure premises as such, but we can at least get similar experience/service.

nathan:

Surface 3 with LTE has only launched in a few countries, we proritise where based on market opportunity, costs for getting the LTE certified by local telco's etc

We've decided to not launch it in NZ.

They're available in AU, you could parallel import one, I'm sure PB Tech would get one in for you etc

We're looking at 3-figure quantities over the course of a few months, so parallel importing is not viable due to warranty issues. The z20t is probably going to be the winner despite cost difference.

Odd that Toshiba, HP and Lenovo are able to justify modems but MS aren't.

It's not an us (MS) vs them (OEM) thing. It's all about Windows for us, we're not trying to screw over OEMs. We have our point of view in terms of pricing and functionality be are happy with where we are.

If you're looking for an alternative to Surface 3 the Lenovo and HP options are much more similar in pricing and functionality

Your z20 is expensive because it's a Hybrid 2n1 instead of a pure tablet, also ATOM vs Intel core I

I'm not in NZ anymore but last I checked Tosh didn't have an ATOM device with WWAN

ping me a PM about the triple digit order and I'll put you in touch with Surface NZ product manager

Watch this space. A certain retailer is looking at more shop-in-shop models and Microsoft is certainly a preferred partner.

Stu: Thanks for the link. Actually the more you search for problems, the more you realise there are far too many for a device in this price bracket!

this isn't really a great way to measure anything.

People don't go online to a forum and post about how much of an awesome experience they are having.

Well, I will. I am enjoying the SP4.

By no means perfect but then (a) my perfect is not your perfect etc and (b) what is perfect? No one makes that yet.

It's a very good machine. I wish it was as easy to run OSX on a Windows machine as it is to run Windows on a Mac - then I could simply have the best of both worlds. That aside, it's generally a very good device. If it had Thunderbolt connectivity it would be better!

I just got off an online chat with Microsoft. Apparently the pen thing I am experiencing on both Sp4 i5s is a known firmware issue. I'll tell you more about it later if you want. I just hopped on here to grab the wifi fix so I can finish updating SP number two.

@nathan I recall that you've recommended a cover/case for the Surface Pro 4, but not the name of it. Could you remind me please? Cheers and thanks.

I've got the UAG (urban armor gear) which is pretty heavy duty but a real buggered to get off!!
Another disadvantage is it does cover the card slot- which I don't anticipate using.

I like the look of the incipio feather advance (there are two versions? No idea what the difference is) as it uses the Surface's own kickstand. The Surface kickstand is really nice. It's a shame to cover it up. I'm not sure if cases exacerbate heat problems but mine seems OK in its red and black rubber suit. Just don't try to take it off! My ideal case would be the UAG with the Surface's own kickstand.

Thanks for the info. I'll take a look at the Incipio range as well, but the handy thing is the STM Dux covers are available off the shelf here.

So are the UAGs. From Noel Leeming. STMs can be had from Harvey Norman. Both from other places too no doubt, those are just the ones I know.

Yes I had a look at the UAG at Noel Leeming. Think the STM looks a bit better so it's leading so far.

I agree, the STM looks more corporate. :)

Corporate? Needs a Geekzone sticker on it then!

Another question if I may please; is anyone running the basic Adobe CC on their Surface Pro 4? If so, what spec Surface and does it run okay?

Many thanks!
