Yes all Dell batteries - like I said it has been a mixed result. If you do some googling you will see there are all sorts of issues in charging and battery replacement.

I've never had an issue with a genuine battery. Would have replaced 20 or 30 I'd think. IMO don't bother touching any 3rd party batteries or power adapters. Dell in particular are quite fussy but as long as the parts are OEM/genuine, you should be fine.

Have these been XPS or other Dell?

Yep I agree only XPS seem to have the issues in general.

Thanks all for you help. A new Dell charger arrived yesterday and my XPS is now charging.

That said I had charged the battery using my husbands HP Spectre charger using the USB Type C slot. Only took me 2 weeks to figure out I could do this. (I am now gray haired, but used to be blonde!)

I am know thinking I might buy a replacement battery from PB Tech whilst I can and keep it just in case the 4 year old battery stops charging. Is this a waste of money or a good investment?

I know nothing :-)

That's good. I would just wait personally, if the battery still lasts OK.

Edit - although they do seem to have new stock coming for around $110+ which is not too badly priced.

RayTech do have the battery in stock currently for $115+.

Dell support told me they didn't have any batteries. Told me they didn't have any chargers either but still I ordered one. Weird.
