Wow! I know this in comparison to Slingshot's 'unlimited' deal is minor, but for Telecom users it is a big deal:

DOUBLE the data from next month!

Yup...my folks started off on a 1 or 3gb plan a few years ago, then to 10, theyve now just been upgraded to 30GB for no increase in price... theyll never use it tho :)

My Dad was literally jumping for joy tonight, haha.

I was amazed by the jump, from 80 to 160GB!

We just upgraded from 20gb to 40gb, don't need 80gb, I look forward to downgrading to the 40gig plan next month and saving myself a tenner. Good stuff Telecom.

What does this mean?

It means as we rely on the net for more information / media content, they are future-proofing us so that we have enough data allowance to fit this lifestyle.

Looks as if Data rates across the country are dropping.  Snap just increased by limit by 4x, from 60Gb to 240Gb!  Wonder where the extra 'goodness' has come from, drop in rates through the southern cable?

It would be nice if Telecom did the same to mobile broadband as there are some of us out there who can't get land based broadband and rely on mobile broadband.

this is cool, but what a joke to increase data at the end/start of billing cycle in May. They should of increase DATA at the begging of upcoming end of billing cycle which is at 27th April for me... :( shame really to wait another month to enjoy double DATA.

I wonder how many people who were on the 80GB plan will 'drop down' to the old 60GB plan (now 120GB)?

I guess this also ends the need for zero-rating sites like Quickflix, having this much data to play with.

Edited for clarity

Give Telecom a break. They are giving you more data and the easiest way is to do it via billing cycle.

Be grateful.

I'm in two minds about that myself... on the one hand it'd be great to reduce the bill, but then the freedom to do whatever the heck I like without even having to think about my data cap will just be awesome.

Just change plan on the 1st of May if it annoys you that much, you are allowed 1 per calendar month at no cost
