Hi guys.

Trying to send important emails, mainly job applications.
When I click send, I have a nice little message saying it's "Unable to send message"

Is this an issue with Yahoo?

Because there's nothing wrong with my internet access for once, and I have cleared cookies, and everything.

Honestly if I was you I'd register your own domain name and set it up in google apps, outlook.com or office 365 bypassing Spark completely.

I learned the lesson a LONG time ago not to rely on ISP email. It's not really a core business. Get a gmail account or similar. You can run your own domain but shared servers suck for email, I tend to move my customers on shared hosting to gmail, fastmail, or if they ask Microsoft 365.

I have to say that if I were sifting applicants for any technology job, any emails that came from an address containing xtra, yahoo or hotmail would go straight into the bin

Why is that?

Why bin one from hotmail, and not gmail? Both are free webmail providers, and hotmail is now outlook, which is regarded as reasonable quality. Even Yahoos webmail is ok, as long as you are using it solely as webmail, and not through Xtras POP/ SMTP server . Sounds a little disrespectful IMO,  to automatically bin people someones emails solely based on their email provider they sent it from.

I was overstating.  But to me, choice of email says a lot about someone's attitude to technology.  Sticking with xtra/yahoo says to me that that person is either too lethargic to fix a problem that is easily fixable, or doesn't understand the options available.  Hotmail not so bad admittedly but is is kind of the default option for someone who just can't be bothered.  I'd be slightly dubious also about someone who used an ISP address

I don't think this is any worse than binning CVs that are in a poor font, or too long, or badly formatted - and I know that happens

Not everyone wants (or needs) their own domain name just for an e-mail address - I don't own one as it's not something that I have the budget for. Yes, I know they're a good idea but the (free) address I have works perfectly fine, and I've used it to successfully obtain IT jobs.

I believe it is. Whether I use Vodafone or Telecom internet connection via mobile... I get same message. Has been doing this some time now for me. Its also saving emails I'm writing to drafts folder, but then not removing them when sent. Or they sit in the outbox unnoticed for up to a week before sending.

lets not lump the 'old' hotmail in with newer outlook.com etc email adresses
There have been very well documented 'issues' with yahoo/xtra & hotmail.
Old Hotmail a/c's were famous for getting hacked . My unused hotmail a/c was hacked last year .
If applying for a tech job, a xtra/hotmail adress doesnt help your cause at all, just another known to be iffy email address. You do want to stand out from the crowd?
I still use my xtra email. I also have Gmail & Outlook.com . I still use xtra as my mail a/c as Ive  had it soo long , 10+ years .

More likely something at your end.
Ive had no issues lately sending(xtra) from my phone , work pc or home PC .

xtra/Yahoo does have outages, but they usually clear within 10minutes to a day.
Try logging in via webmail, to check there are no issues with your a/c
Also, try emptying your outbox of unsent mail.
