I have been with telecom broadband for a few years and I am impressed with the reliability of it and I acknowledge the data caps have increased with little or sometimes no price increase but I need more data(at least 80GB total but preferably 100GB total) for the same price or a little price increase. Currently I am on the $105 per month 60GB Total Home Broadband plan which includes landline rental and calling. If I want more data it costs $2 per GB which means an extra 20GB(to make 80) would cost me $40.

If I joined Slingshot I could get a 100GB data cap broadband including a landline with Slingshot for $101 per month so it's cheaper than Telecom and has 40GB more data.

If I joined Woosh I can get a 100GB broadband and landline for $109.95 per month which is $4.95 more expensive than Telecom but for that I get an extra 40GB.

Why should I stay on Telecom? Do they have zero rated YouTube? Do they have rollover data? Are they planning on increasing data caps anytime soon?

Telecom have two optional add-ons available to you;

Plan name Monthly cost
Total Home Broadband 80GB Add $20
Total Home Broadband 100GB Add $40

it is really upto reliability and speed consistency. I doubt Slinghshot or Woosh would keep up with full-speed or closed to full-speed (limited by sync rate) broadband 24/7. My Telecom connection is like that for the past years since Big Time gone :(

Does not matter http or torrents. Good like that. Love it :)

That is mostly correct but Telecom don't exactly have the best reputation for it either its more of a general assumption that really applies to any major ISP with the exception of Slingshot.

Any ISP can have above or below average speeds for any reason, But smaller ISP's are inclined to have these problems more regularly due to network management and policy problems, Slingshot in particular have decreased speeds as part of the network structure (under-buying capacity and shaping between customers allows lower prices but sacrifices speeds a lot of the time)

Just like to point out that I changed from Telecom to Slingshot Uncapped plan(a month now) mainly because of the data on Telecom was costing me a fortune and the speeds on Slingshot are faster day and night even torrents. I am saving $100 a month!

Even if I get the Total Home Broadband 80GB for an extra $20 that will still cost me $125 which is more expensive than woosh and slingshot and it has less data than woosh and slingshot as I could get 100GB for cheaper.

at the end of the day its up to you really.. i dont overly like telecom my self. but cheaper and more data would always be a strong point for wanting to move over? save money in the long run

Yes, unlimited and yes it is shaped but the shaping only comes into play if there is a lack
of bandwidth which there does not seem to be ATM.
As I said even torrents are faster than on Telecom for us.

I would like to say though that the Telecom broadband connection we had was very good and very reliable
and it is early days with Slingshot, so if your broadband is mission critical stick with Telecom.

Personal experience shows that Telecom is the most stable connection I have had with good speeds, yes compare to the other offers Telecom is expensive. My choice in the end was this. I rather have the reliability(specific to my line) and good speeds than the $cost. My choice in the end.... That's after trialling between slingshot/Telstra/Telecom

Ring them and ask what data options they will give you in order to keep you as a long time customer. Ask for sales, that is in NZ, and you might get a "bribe". Worth trying anyway. I did once and they doubled my data.
I am in the same situation as you but I would not ever consider changing as my Telecom broadband is so good. If it aint broke, don't fix it i say.

Your allowed one plan change per calendar month with Telecom.

So why not switch between 60GB with $2/GB overage and 60GB capped plans every month? That gives you 120GB of data for $105 dollars.

Telecom use pro-rata billing for broadband.
