Bye Bye watching the news and sports highlights when I've missed them on the news....It had to happen sometime

It was good while it lasted though... and it had lasted a long time being free, I always thought that just couldn't work out a way of charging you for it

It sure did have to happen. It was free for a long time!

As far as I am aware, lots of the new services (e.g. P2T) went to market as soon as they could be delivered, regardless of whether the billing system was set up for it or not.

They should really have a subscription service...

I always took a more cynical view that they were trying to get people "hooked" and would then keep using it after it started to get billed....

As for a subscription service, your right - I would never pay 50c to watch 3 highlight from the news a movie trailer etc, especially as they arent donwloadable, but I would consider a subscription for the right price...

I think charging for these is a bad idea. I know Telecom need to make revenue from it somehow, but how about forcing the viewer to watch a short advert before the clip starts? Surely that would be a better way to make clips profitable. Even if the ad was for one of their own products, it would generate a few sales surely... I can't imagine there will be much of an audience for these clips once you have to pay for them.

You might think that, but you would be surprised what people will pay for!

Caller tunes has made a huge amount of revenue, and the purchaser is not even the one to get the benefit!

Thanks to them for giving us the chance to view clips for free, now you can decide if it is something you wish to pay for before using then finding out they are not what you wanted.
Lets face it we were all expecting to have to pay at some stage!

You are bang on Pebs, Telecom did not have a way to charge for the service
