Bung: Off topic but power related. Does a naked VDSL connection have any dc applied? I've been told my new connection has gone ahead but assume that standing a modem up is the only way to confirm that. Modem on its way.
for naked connections, Some providers actually provision a full clothed service, and bar the PSTN side of the line.
Spark are the only ones I'm aware of that do this. Anybody else who does this has to pay the wholesale access cost for the voice connection so would be stupid to do this from a financial perspective.
andrewNZ: To prove it's not you, turn off the UPS supply and check the connection stays up.
I did this as an experiment. VDSL was rock solid. I'm pretty sure I tested all of this when I set it up.
It seems from HIO77's post it is a battery problem at the cabinet.
