I have the App installed (have to use TestFlight or something). Nice looking App. Cool that it knew my usage pattern already. I will have a fiddle with settings and see if it can make a difference (on 100/20, so not much chance I can saturate my downstream normally anyway).

I will test activating the streaming profile, and see how it affects a large web download.

Have you found that once you activate a profile, when you change to another tab such as Notifications or Help, and then go back to Network the profile is no longer activated?

Yeah that was the only thing I have to report so far (on iOS), if you pull down to refresh though it does show that the server knows it has been changed.

Awesome, this is really exciting. I have a slight obsession with QoS so I really wish I was in the beta! This is super interesting because a lot of the advice on end-user QoS boils down to "downstream QoS is a waste of time, by the time it's sent to you by your ISP it's too late". Configurable prioritisation at the ISP end could result in better results than anything done at the consumer end of the pipe. Looking forward to more user reports.

If any participants are reading, would you mind reporting your results in DSLreports' bufferbloat test?

Detruire: Huh. I replied last night, haven't heard anything back so far. :o

Me too. Very keen on this - I have crappy 5 Mbs ADSL so this is exactly the droid I'm looking for...

I can see our household using the streaming setting.  So does VoIP end up fighting over the remaining 10% of the pipe? Would be nice if that always had a small reservation.

yep, if it isn't prioritised then it goes in the pot with the remaining 10%.

Reality is that voip uses very little traffic anyway, so it will rarely get congested at all.

(communications mode works well for video calling though e.g. Skype)

I'll beta test a Windows 10 Mobile app if you are planning one at some point. :)

no immediate plans at this stage.  Windows mobile usage within bigipe customers is very very small. It's not realistically a high priority to do a win10 mob app

How does one give feedback on the app? Will here do?

here is fine, but also within the app there is feedback area under the 'profile' section where you can type stuff direct to our dev team.

Detruire: How do you actually get the app? Does or need to be manually approved after replying to the email?

If you haven't received the instructions maybe just reply to the email again to make sure it's been picked up.

good spotting! that's definitely a new one for us.

Turns out the mode is actually selected properly as you wanted, but there is a bug/feature in the UI where it doesn't properly update and remembers it's last cached state. If you pull down the screen to refresh you should see it update correctly.

While windows phone users may be small, creating a Windows 10 Universal app would mean the minority are happy + It can be used on Windows 10 PC's and tablets too.

Are the iOS and Android apps both native? Or are you using a cross platform framework like Xamarin or Ionic / Cordova

'Tis true. A universal app would run on mobile, PC and even on Xbox. Might be well worth looking in to.

something else to note for you guys,

doing a speedtest using speedtest.net counts as 'browsing'  - so you'll see differences in results depending on what you have prioritised and what other things you are doing.

so, for example,  if you have a 20Mbps line and prioritise streaming, then load up a bunch of Youtube,  your speedtest result will be limited to around 2Mbps (10% of your line speed)

If you prioritise browsing,  your speedtest will jump to around 18Mbps (90% of line)

however, fast.com  (the netflix speedtest) counts as streaming  (the way it is done is via netflix caches and looks exactly like streaming traffic to our system) so your results on that may vary depending on whether you have streaming or browsing prioritised, and what other traffic is going on.

This might mean I can get rid of the second internet connection if browsing still works properly while getting the "linux iso's" and rsyncing to the seedbox. Fingers crossed.

Hey, a few of you are still waiting on your invite for the beta. I'm assured all the emails have been replied to, so I can only suggest checking any email forwarding or spam folder-ish things you may have going on.

I've checked and nothing. I've sent you a PM if you could maybe check at your end?
