Ok then, let's see who can design a better logo than that.  I'm on fire tonight so here's my entry...

It looks about as inspiring as the logo for 'Good Health Wanganui' that came out many years ago

I like it, it looks much more friendly and flexible than the old logo which was very stout and corporate. Hopefully they can follow through with the improved service that has been seen over the last year or so, and let's be fair, Telecom have massively lifted their game post-separation.

Satch: Hmm, I whipped this up in about 4 seconds in Paint.  Maybe I have a future as a graphic designer after all?

You'd better be careful there - Telecom have TM'd their logo! Smile

Haha.  Who said I didn't design this X weeks minus 2 days before Telecom did? Cool

No, bugger it!  I've scribbled this like a million times when taking down notes and action points at meetings.  I'm arranging an appointment with my lawyer first thing Monday morning...

Im sorry, but I think I was doing this before you!

When my pen stops working, I draw this on a regular basis to get it going again.

I don't particularly like it, but then I thought the XT logo was terrible when I first saw it and it has definitely grown on me. Maybe this one will do the same.

I like it, it's pretty and completely absolutely categorically different from their existing logo, I'm going to miss that Yellow, I wonder what the bills will look like? Will the page be light blue? Come to think of it, yellow isn't even owned by Telecom anymore, some guy from sweden is making yellow chocolate. :)

Telecom needs to change it's brand, it's got too much baggage from the Gatting (spelling?) error with bad service and horrific performance.

Shiny new logo, looks like fibre, or a asterix symbol.

Tyler - Parnell Geek - iPhone 3G - Lenovo X301 - Kaseya - Great Western Steak House, these are some of my favourite things.

I was at the launch too, and couldnt help think how much the ad agency would have been paid to come up with it!  Its like the key art director drew a scribble as a place holder (ie the logo goes here... when we design the new one, ya know... it'll go here where this asterisk is scribbled.. ok?) while getting on with other work, and looked back up at his scribble for so long one day while trying to think up a new logo for a million dollar account with a tight deadline, and went.... stuff it, I like the scribble! Thats the logo! And the scribble in the shape of an asterisky mess, drawn with a big marker pen, like ad agencys use on endless A2 sheets of paper was conceived!  Then the art director held a brainstorm meeting with his young sicophant writers about how to justify it to the client! Telecom has been duped I tell you! Appreciating this logo is like ponsy art critics with a glass of moet standing around looking at a blank white canvas painted only in white and all agreeing unanimously on its depth and feeling, likening it to long felt heart wrenching, gut churning realism! You know people will talk twaddle about this logo for a long time to come, about its warmth, how we can all relate to it, how anyone can draw it and that somehow thats a good thing.... But one day someone will have the guts to pipe up and go, you have got to be kidding me, I dont see the emporers new clothes!?!   And honestly, do you see it, or is it really just a scribble/place holder that Saatchis in Parnell was paid several hundred thousand to invent?

"It represents giving the power back to the people, helping everday New Zealanders achieve anything they want. It represents simplicity and that anybody can do anything."

What dribble... looks like something you would draw while doodling with a pen on some scrap paper. Of late theres been afew brands that have been making questionable logo/brand changes... i.e. the Nissan Quashquai...

Since the new logo launch, the Telecom website seems to be going a lot faster.

It looks pretty Telecom to me...
Bit random... Whilst all roughly focused on a central point....
That is unfortunately a little obscured because you're looking into the light

Interesting some of you guys saying it is a "kid's scribble"... Here is the official word, received in a press release just now:

“We’ve been speaking to customers who were strongly in favour of this new direction because of the freshness and commitment to change the new brand represents. So over the next few months you’ll see changes to our stores, websites, communications and advertising,” says Alan Gourdie, CEO Telecom Retail.

“The brand is designed to be less about us and more about our customers. Where previously it stood for telecommunications services, wires and networks, it now reflects New Zealanders doing what inspires them, and doing it on their terms,” says Mr Gourdie.
