I'm totaly sold aswel with less credit and a smaller plan just my 20c but yea that would be the deciding factor for me to sign up

Essentially im still unhappy with both Vodafones and Telecoms offerings.

Personally i pay like $60 for 100ish mins of call time, 600 texts to any network and 100mb of data per month.

I can terminate at any time.

To get a plan with anything similar for an iPhone i have to pay a lot more. This sux. I would happily sign up for a 24 month contract for even a small subsidy, but i refuse to pay far more for the same plan.

The force is strong with this one!

I'm using the new iPhone on XT and loving it. It's so much faster than when it was on Vodafone. I never dreamed I would leave Vodafone and used to hate Telecom but I had three recent appalling customer experiences in Vodafone retail stores in inquiring about iPhone matters.
Why do the young staff think they're cool by being indifferent (keeping people waiting while they chat or muck around on a laptop), treat you like a moron and are ignorant (the other day I was told to go and ask at the Apple store which is "dont know somewhere in Newmarket, cant help you"). It's a common story among my friends.
So I wandered into a Telecom retail store after the last experience just for a nosey, not expecting to change and was blown away by how genuinely helpful they were, how informed and accommodating they were and how I was able to go on similar plans to what I wanted without any 24 month burden. 24 months is ridiculous to tie yourself up with in this growing competitive climate.
I asked nervously about keeping my number and was amazed when three hours later with a minimum of paper work, I had been switched to XT with my same number and there was no drama with APNs etc. Everything worked.
Telecom has definitely undergo a post-Gattung culture shift. Vodafone needs to wake up to the new world and treat customers with less arrogance.
All my iPhone friends who have sampled my XT speed and heard my tale want to change but they're locked into a contract with Vodafone.
I know we haven't got the pricing plans we want from either telco but I have no regrets about changing and am coping with being with a company I used to despise. Strangely I feel liberated that I have an iPhone and freedom to do what I want.

Vodafone has to have the worst customer service in the country.. When I went to buy my 3gs.. The guy serving me didn't even give me the respect of eye contact and was more interested in speaking to his mate.. I'm just looking for a reason to ditch this company that doesn't appreciate it's customers...

Went in a Vodafone store to enquire about the 3gs, the guy 'working' did same to me as he did to you. No eye contact, no hold on mate ill be there in a minute, just "blah blah blah" to his mate.

We are going off topic though so sorry ;)

Hopefully with all this competition, vodafone and telecom will release more realistic/competitive priced plans in the future

What I think is funny about XT offer is it gives a better deal to iPhone users than users who buy an XT phone.

I also find it interesting that they only offered it for that plan and above, not the lower plans (with a smaller subsidy). The offer is good but I dont need that much talktime. I would be more interested in a $40-$60 plan.

If they offered a $40 plan with a smaller credit(enough for my vodafone disconnection fee) I'd be on the phone to Telecom right now.

I asked previously about if this deal applies for businesses upgrading off a still-in-play Telecom CDMA contract. There have been multiple phone calls and fancy mailouts tempting us to do this, so hopefully it does!
I tried to discuss this with an instore representative at Telecom but unfortunately they just didn't get the question (or weren't keen to answer it).

So given that there are TCNZ peeps that hang out here, I thought I'd ask if there was an official answer:
- If I upgrade my still-in-contract CDMA plan (about 6 months to run IIRC) to OneRate180, will the account be credited with $600 if I bring an iPhone? And the data offer stands?

i wouldn't hold your breath. as freitasm mentioned in an earlier post, the last thing telecom or vodafone want to get into is an all out price war, because it will collapse the price, and neither company wants that to happen (collapsed price = much less profit). so they will always just price around each other, maybe offering a little bit extra here and there, but you will never see radical undercutting.

the most you can hope for is the short term big (vf: 3GB for 3 months) offers. but as it's been pointed out in the post already, these are purely used to lock people into long term contracts.

As Paul has already commented on your blog, you have not factored in the VODAFONE subsidy in this table!

Thats actually the Pros and Cons for himself I think. For new buyers you would factor in Vodafone's iPhone subsidy but lotech already has an iPhone.

1) Yes, but that's not what Telecom is offering. Instead you're on the 180 plan which includes 240MB of data. The 180 plan then goes to an overuse rate of 50c/MB. Ouch.

2) We've never said it would. The 2100 network covers all the major cities and towns (19 main centres) and accounts for 70% of the population.

1. Paul, what's the overage charge on the 250MB plan? What are the overage charges on the 3GB plan, too? Stop using FUD to make your answers seem better.

2. I live in metropolitan Wellington, ala, the Hutt Valley - I have patchy 3G coverage at best, and miserable GPRS coverage, too. I don't live on a hill, and I can actually see the cell site. Why can't you provide me with coverage as part of this 70%?

I was going to pull you up on something else, but I can't remember what it is. You shall have to wait, sir!
