Have been able to play wow since Wednesday at just slightly higher then usual latency. Is this only for me?

Can't play online games. even tho the pings are very low even at peak times, the packet loss spoils everything.

Games to AU (40ms) and NZ(12ms) work great for me. United States is still hopeless. Packet loss galore.

yes they have made some grounds for general usage as websites and gaming here is fine and iTunes downloads seem to be working alot better than they have been its just downloading anything 50mb+ means no matter where it is it seems the download speeds are painfully slow and mean it would take days and days to download anything.

Looks like I jinxed myself.

I am getting a crap latency and download rate to everything to do with the internet right now. Pinging Telecom.co.nz at 360ms.

Something is up.

use tracert to check out where spikes start to happen, second hop - something happening on your line. 3rd hop ... i don't know, a bunch of super leachers perhaps?

Hmmm. Latency has been great this morning and for the last 2-3 hours (now 12.40pm - lunchtime). Gaming no problems. See how it holds up tonight - I suspect it will pack up. We'll see I guess.

Ugh,

I found the out what the issue was this morning. Brother + uTorrent = Latency issues. Latency has actually been fantastic all week round since Wednesday.

Until about 2 pm had no latency issues with 200 ms in wow nor packet loss(checked multiple times), after 2 pm packet loss came back making gaming impossible.

latency jump could be explained: Sat 2pm, everybody just woke up after Fri night and watching youtube, downloading etc, but how can the packet loss be explained? Too much traffic causes hardware to fail?

So, the question then - What happened between now and 2 or so hours ago?
