Either there are network issues, which aren't being reported on the status page (and should be) or Telecom are throttling in off-peak hours.
I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup. Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Shaping is applied 24/7, its just normally not noticable outside peak hours.

News to me. I was told that traffic management does not apply between the hours of 2AM and 8AM or off-peak. That is how it is pitched on their website too. So isn't that false advertising if what you say is true?

News to me.? I was told that traffic management does not apply between the hours of 2AM and 8AM or off-peak.? That is how it is pitched on their website too.? So isn't that false advertising if what you say is true?
It's all clearly stated on the website...
from https://www.telecom.co.nz/broadband/select/1,10627,205728-204466,00.html?action=/plan&detail=17#traffic_management
"Traffic Management - We don't place an artificial cap on the download or upload speed on the majority of the internet activity our customers have on this plan. But because it has no fixed data allowance, we do manage all the traffic on it to optimise the experience for everyone on the plan. When the network is busy (generally inside the hours of 9am and 2am) you may notice reduced speeds, in particular you are likely to see reduced speeds in relation to file sharing traffic and online gaming. "
(Bold added by me)
The official website and T&Cs for the plan are better sources of info than forums in most cases.
Cheers?- N

"During the not so busy times which is between 2AM and 9AM, it doesn't matter where you're headed or what you want to do. Traffic management won't apply."
This is where my confusion was sparked.
