I was surprised when telecom said there would be a install fee for VDSL when they launched it considering you could get fibre installed for free. Much more work involved in a fibre install compared to a VDSL install.

Yes, but the fibre install is being covered by the whole UFB roll-out, at the moment, as long as you're within 200m of the roadside (from memory).

I got VDSL installed since July, the initial bill did not mention of the $99 one time fee, now my bill for September has listed the $99 connection fee.

The fee will come.

I also have the $99 fee on my latest bill. For the modem, filter and new jack + the tech, I am happy to pay the $99 fee. Bargin.

just checking the Telecom site and I saw this offer for VDSL
"Join Telecom broadband on an 80GB or above package, on a 12 month term and you’ll get a FREE standard season pass to watch the Barclays Premier League."

realize it only offer for new customer only?

existing customer can't choose the contract offer?

is the existing customer page haven't update for the contact option to choose the free premier league pass or just existing customer still have to pay $99 & no free standard season pass lol?

Pretty similar to me - I am a similar distance apparently and I get 22-24 down and 10 up.

Give your connection a week for DLM to work its magic.

Applied about a month ago to get VDSL, Telecom address checker said I could, Chorus map said out of range. Got a call from Chorus a week later saying its not possible, to far away I think.
Today, there was a Chorus chap out side our house working on some connection/hub/thing underground where there are quite a few connections for our road, and he replaced most of them as they had been getting wet. He suggested that as a house very nearby (not sure how near) was approx. 820m away from a cabinet, and these connections had been replaced, I should get my connection checked for VDSL again (for attenuation, dB, whatever).
So, should I just ring up Telecom, or could I grovelingly enquire as to the possibility of one of the Telecom chaps who frequents this thread perhaps checking things out, so to speak, as it were ?
Thanks very much

Yes, my speeds improved from about 19/9 during the first week to about 28/9 now (day 16). I'm about 600m from my cabinet. At install, the Chorus guy told me my line could manage a maximum of 35/9. For some reason my upload speed has remained consistently excellent, regardless of the fluctuations of the download speed.
