rb99: Applied about a month ago to get VDSL, Telecom address checker said I could, Chorus map said out of range. Got a call from Chorus a week later saying its not possible, to far away I think.
Today, there was a Chorus chap out side our house working on some connection/hub/thing underground where there are quite a few connections for our road, and he replaced most of them as they had been getting wet. He suggested that as a house very nearby (not sure how near) was approx. 820m away from a cabinet, and these connections had been replaced, I should get my connection checked for VDSL again (for attenuation, dB, whatever).
So, should I just ring up Telecom, or could I grovelingly enquire as to the possibility of one of the Telecom chaps who frequents this thread perhaps checking things out, so to speak, as it were ?

820meters you should "just" be ok. I would just ask for it to be put in, and see if they refuse again.

realize it only offer for new customer only?

existing customer can't choose the contract offer?

is the existing customer page haven't update for the contact option to choose the free premier league pass or just existing customer still have to pay $99 & no free standard season pass lol?

The offer is for new customers only. Existing customers get a 15% discount off the EPL pass and need to pay the $99 for the VDSL connection.

That's a bit on the nose. Essentially $248 of freebies for new customers, while it will cost an existing customer ~$225 (PLP with 15% off + $99 connection)? I would have thought, at the very least an existing customer under no current contract, entering into the contract, should get the benefits, no?

All good, just a bit shock when there is no information on the website about $99 connection fees for existing customer until you reach the contract option just realise mmm?? Not even mention in terms & conditions

I guess most of the user just go on the website n check is free so though would including for existing customer lol.. It's alright. :)

Hi,

Just looking at signing up but something strange last night; I put my address in and it said that only ADSL was available yet 2 nights before I checked the same address and it said that VDSL was available. Anyone from Telecom able to give me a heads up on the situation - is there a bug in the address checker?

Also, just noticed that on the contact page there is no option if you have a skinny mobile number starting with 0204.

Just put my order through online, the order page is still showing $99 connection, but CSR on the livechat confirmed it should not be, and that if a charge showed up she(?) would credit me.

Requested connex for Mon/Tue next week, so will see how it all goes. My install should be pretty easy as access under the house is simple and the place for the new jackpoint already has holes drilled.

Interesting note, the address checker couldnt find any info for my address, despite having Telecom ADSL already

new customers always get an offer to entice them in.
When you signed up you probably got something similar like 1-2 months free, free connection, free modem, free plan upgrade or something along those lines.

Id say so, that is what I have noticed on mine as well, its incredibly sluggish navigating around.

Id say so, that is what I have noticed on mine as well, its incredibly sluggish navigating around.

I'm not sure its 'supposed' to be sluggish, but it definitely is on mine. Its just another reason to bridge it to another router.

Mine is the same, the GUI is very slow and it is painful when I need to change a bunch of settings.
