Hi guys,

So as of late I seem to have noticed my speed seems to be slower than it used to. AFAIK my line stats seem ok(?)

I've just switched over from Vodafone to Telecom for the 500gb plan. I got the Thompson router with the package and have now plugged it in to test speed (reason being I've had a linksys WAG200G for about 6-7 years now that I have wondered many times, whether or not it is dying.) I've been having D/Cs quite often, from around 11pm onwards which I haven't been able to isolate whether it was just the router or not.

Details below.

Link Information

Uptime: 0 days, 0:31:09
DSL Type: ITU-T G.992.5
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 696 / 8.220
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 22,40 / 208,21
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12,6 / 0,0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 20,0 / 34,5
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 12,8 / 11,3
System Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / ----
Chipset Vendor ID (Local/Remote): BDCM / IKNS
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): -
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 1 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 60.475
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 1
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 2

For the past couple of months my speeds have been very slow, I used to get 8-9Mb/s on speedtest. Lately it has been anywhere from 3-7Mb/s.

I've changed the line from the jack to the router. I have a dedicated jack so I don't use line filters. What are my next steps to see if Something is wrong with my connection?

Also I live around Market Rd in Epsom, western side of the motorway, Probably somewhere around 1-1.5km away from the remuera exchange.

Appreciate any help.

With an Attenuation of 34db, you really should have a Master Filter.

If you pm me or email me pl @ telecom.co.nz I will run a line test, and say that you will need a Master Filter.
