I recently began to change from Vodafone to Telecom for my internet data needs while traveling around NZ in my motorhome and I would like to be able to connect from my computer through a Vodafone R208 I own to the internet.

I purchased a Telecom data plan (3gig at the moment for $60pm), the store rep fitted the new sim into the R208 and said he was able to access the internet through it from his smartphone.

But, when I use the R208 with my computer I see that I have good signal from Telecom and that my computer has connected but it will not pass data.  My Win 7 Network and Sharing Center confirms connection but 'No Internet'.

A call to Telecom support failed to resolve the issue - possibly because the support rep failed to call me back as promised. Support was helpful as possible but I could see that being asked to provide Telecom support when a Vodafone device was being used was not run of the mill for her.

What do I ( a newbie to wifi ) need to do to use my R208 with my computer?

Thanks

RunningMan:
AllanJames: Terrific!  Now all I need to know is how to make the settings? (given that http://192.168.0.1 didn't get the job done for me - as explained above)

If you went to 192.168.0.1 and got back the settings you listed above, then that is the admin interface for the R208 - it is not Vodafone's website, but since they sold you the device, it will be branded by them.

The settings are already there if you can see them.

Problem solved! ( I'm using the R208 now on Telecoms Network )

I discovered that at 192.168.0.1 I was trying to login with my old Vodafone Account password - it was being rejected and I thought that was because I had changed to another provider. However a re-read of the manual lead me to try the default password and I was in business.

Used the interface and added the Tececom APN and the Dialing Number and all was well.

Thanks to all that contributed towards the solution!
