We just got VDSL broadband, but the speeds are low. The wiring is not okay: ETP goes to some splitter, which splits it up into 7 RJ45 cables. I temporarily connected that to a RJ45 socket under the house, which goes to the living room to a RJ45 socket. There I have plugged in the RJ45->RJ11 cable to the modem. The wiring was all installed by the house lord, who had Vodafone cable. ADSL was split up, because he used to have 7 phones in the house... VDSL speeds vary between 5 and 20 mbps.
So, after having read a lot, I want to install a master splitter myself. So, want to buy a master splitter like this:

... and plug that into a RJ45 (or RJ11?) wall socket, directly near the ETP.
Some questions:
1. What kind of tools will I need? I have no specific networking tools right now, just moved in from The Netherlands.
2. As the supplied cable with the DSL modem is RJ45 -> RJ11, I am thinking about installing a RJ45 socket. Or is a RJ11 socket better?
3. I cannot find any guide to installing the master splitter including a wall socket, expect this pretty expensive pack: http://www.trademe.co.nz/computers/networking-modems/adsl-modems/auction-693145252.htm . I hope you can help me out?
