Hello guys,

Today I had my Fibre completed and the ONT is flashing to show Fibre is connected, Spark have also text me to say my router is on its way. The guy from Enable said as far as he knows it should work so I tried my router and had no luck but it seems I need to get the latest firmware for vlan, which I am doing now.

My router is the Netgear R7000 Nighthawk.

However I tried my landline also plugged into the ONT and it doesn't work, I take this to be that its not setup by Spark yet? Therefore trying to setup my router is a waste of time?

Also I'm not sure where I put the following:

  • Operating Mode : MDI/MDIX
  • PPP Protocol : PPPoE
  • PPP Username: user@spark.co.nz
  • PPP Password: password
  • PPP Auth Type : PAP
  • Encapsulation : 802.1Q
  • PCP Marking : 0
  • VID (or VLAN) : 10
  • MTU : 1,500 or AUTO

I only seem to have options for static ip, gateway, subnet mask etc,, hopefully this is visible once I get the firmware installed.

Thanks for help :)

OK so it seems it was my firmware to start with was the issue then I ran the wizard and it failed a few times before finally working, not sure why.

Great results so far, my download speed is about the same 80-90 mbps, upload has obviously increased to 20mbps from 10mbps. The major change is my ping has dropped from 8ms to 1ms :)

I would say judging by that if I can only get 80mbps on cable and fibre that must be my limit so not worth getting the 200/20 plan.

Thank you for the help Jase!
