Hi,

 

 

 

I've been on Telecom VDSL for a while now and generally been pretty happy with it.

 

 

 

Something changed yesterday though hopefully in a good way.  The connection reset in the afternoon and now the connection speed has increased.

 

 

 

We had about 46Mb before and speedtest etc said about that number, today modem says 62-63MB but speed test etc still shows the same 45-46Mb down even at 6AM :-)

 

 

 

Anyone else seen anything similar? I guess our last mile is a bit shorter now as the modem says concentrator POP-BNG01 which I think is different.

What device does you PPP link?  The Technicolor, or the Cisco?

 

When the DSL went down, did the PPP go down?  If not, reset your PPP connection and you should be right.

Your VDSL2 bandplan changed from 997 to 998. There are a number of threads on here about this very issue.


As for speeds not matching sync I'd imagine that Spark like many ISPs queue traffic in their BNG based on sync speed and this hasn't caught up yet.



Sort of right.

Your downlink speed is tied to what Chorus give Spark when the PPPoE link comes up. The 998 band plan causes the line to drop and come up again. So any change at that point would have caused the speed to be recalculated.

So in short a restart of everything should fix it. If it doesn't then it could be your configuration or poor wiring impacting the speed.

As there is normally two speeds listed for your DSL connection. Attainable speed and actual speed. The difference in those two numbers is the quality of your internal wiring and line back to the DSLAM.
