i have just started getting a very unstable connection over the last 24-36 hours.

have rebooted modem, had ports reset by spark, and have been told i have a stable line but my latency in games is reaching anywhere upto 8000, getting kicked from games constantly and rubberbanding.

also have experienced internet dropouts, although there is no logs to point to it, as my DSL line stays connected the whole time. have been suggested a new modem (which is on its way during the week)

speedtests result in speeds from 2-5mb download, although have had around a good 12-13 when SNR margin was sitting at 6dB since i was connected.

@hio77, maybe you could help or have a look into it for me?

Internet stats from Huawei HG659B below:

DSL synchronization status: Up

Connection status: Showtime

Upstream line rate (kbit/s): 1061

Downstream line rate (kbit/s): 10741

Maximum upstream rate (kbit/s): 1061

Maximum downstream rate (kbit/s): 11592

Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 12.5

Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 12

Upstream interleave depth: 0

Downstream interleave depth: 0

Line standard: ADSL_2plus

Upstream line attenuation (dB): 17.3

Downstream line attenuation (dB): 33.5

Upstream output power (dBmV): 12.2

Downstream output power (dBmV): 19.4

Downstream interleave depth: None

DSL up time: 0 days 2 hours 38 minutes 57 seconds

Stable DSL but variable throughput and latency points to link saturation. I'd be looking for something on your network hogging bandwidth, either upstream or downstream.

shawnybear: [snip] both phones being Android and doing cloud backups. still have no clue as to what could be saturating the upstream to cause my whole internet to just stop working for upto 5 minutes

There's the clue right there. A phone doing a cloud backup for several minutes will cause the exact symptoms you have with a 1 Mb/s connection.

Yup. And is the factor the OP got a new phone or did a firmware upgrade.
Same applies to cloud backup on desktops.
If I had to blame it on something it would be cloud backups.
