I'm loathed to contact the help desk, as when I've had similar issues in the past they were generally little help and members of this forum (who work at Spark) were able to sort the issues far more quickly. So I'm hoping that might be the case this time. But I don't remember who the users were.

I'm on Unplan Fibre Max and just discovered I'm only getting about 120 Mbps down and 140 Mbps up using Speedtest.

I'm not sure how long it's been like this and only noticed because I recently re-setup my WiFi and noticed those speeds maxing at the above level, so I initially assumed it was a WiFi issue. But I decided to do a test from my PC over ethernet (which previously got 960 Mbps up, 540 Mbps down), and found I'm actually getting the same low speeds over ethernet as well.

If anyone from Spark watching these forums who could help would be really appreciated.

Swap in the HG659 or Smartmodem and see what you get then please...

Or alternately, confirm that you have fast path (HW offloading) PROPERLY enabled and haven't got a feature turned on which disables it on the ERlite.

Talkiet:

I get that it's top of YOUR list, but correct top of the list if you want to troubleshoot a potential issue with the service is to put in a known good router... But you know that :-)

Cheers - N

In theory yes I do know that. In practice I do have a tendency to skip some of the first steps if they think they're a waste of time.

Talkiet:

I feel the need to point out that this makes you the unbelievably, ridiculously small exception - 4 standard deviations away from normality... It's figuratively never the ISP or the LFC.

Now of course those rare events do happen, but it's insanely rare.

It's probably because I have generally exhausted everything on my end before engaging with the ISP

BUT... that being said in this case it actually was my router. HW offloading was disabled. I've no idea how long it's been like that, and I'm surprised I hadn't notice earlier. Valuable lesson for me though that sometimes I need to check more and assume less.

I question whether the helpdesk would have suggested that as a possible solution though, so posting here still probably got me the fastest resolution.

Now I just need to see if the wifi is performing well (which I can't test until tonight). If not then I'll need to start another thread about that!

Thanks
